Yes it is! I had two pages of new threads this morning from being away for eight hours last night.

I've got an idea... have one discussion thread for everything about the system. Create ONE thread each time for a new advisory and have a thread for recon.

I'm a genius.

I just wish more people would follow it... usually those threads are very close to the top of the page, and they would be if there weren't 10 topics about the same thing.

I noticed a post no longer bumps the topic to the top (unless your account is blessed somehow), so perhaps thats the reason for so many new posts. New posts seem to make it to the top.

When anyone replies, it bumps it up. :)

Please do not create new posts about the board when it goes down. I assure you that the Admins know what is going on and will relay messages in this thread when warranted. Thanks.

This was a problem last year. It became so overwhelming to even go through a few threads to participate.

Well, I'll try it again then. Please look for a thread to reply in before starting a new one. It makes it easier for EVERYONE to navigate.

single storm threads are too dense and title changes to many times...
there is a lot of info in them that simply gets lost in the pages...

I think it's a little extream to have so many important topics lost
in a NINE PAGE THREAD... I can appreciate less clutter... but this is
a little too much JMHO

Exactly, it wasn't exactly easy to follow last year either. The thing was I posted that message at 10:40am yesterday morning so that would have been 5:40am there and yet there were still lots of new topics from the previous few hours.

I think we should just make one big thread whenever a storm forms. There were 3 1/2 unread pages of threads when I checked in earlier. And the last time I checked in before that was just last night, so it wasn't that long. So in my opinion, it's kind of annoying. I say, an official Dennis thread, and official threads for future storms. Just my two cents.

I'll have to use my two cents to disagree a bit: one thread to discuss everything about a storm could get very confusing very quickly, particularly when people don't quote the post they're responding to.

I don't mind different, but singular, threads to discuss models, advisories, storm movements, recon, and landfall forecasts for a particular storm. What's set up now (stickied Dennis advisory thread and recon thread, and a healthy model trends and a landfall forecast thread) is a good setup.

People start new threads, at least to some extent, because of the "me" syndrome.

Look at me, I'm important!

In my view it's up to the mods to prune the redundant new threads and graft them into existing ones, then lock the original thread with the explanation that nothing new was being said, go here.

Or just lock the unnecessary thread.

That discourages those who breathlessly proclaim a left turn/right turn, explosive deeping/falling appart, it's going to hit Tampa/Galveston, etc.

Other than that, I just post here. Don't start a lot of threads, but occasionally comment. But rampant new threads is a problem that seriously diminishes the usefulness of this message board.

IMHO if it's impairative to have single threads... y'all
allow theads in the thread... ie: Dennis
1.Dennis Recon
a. 8am
b. 6pm
2.Dennis Track
3. Dennis intensity
4. Polls
a. What catagory will it be?
b. Who will it hit
5. NHC Advisorys
etc...

This will allow us to better access the data.
Like I said earlier... good info is getting lost
in the 19 pages in the thread...
