Heavy Training TStorms in S/Central Dominican Republic...

#1 Postby Hyperstorm » Wed Jul 06, 2005 11:46 pm

Unfortunately, we may be hearing about this tomorrow...

Even as I write, training thunderstorms are just pummeling the southern half of the Dominican Republic very near Santo Domingo, the capital. Let's hope that nothing happens, but this type of situation is the one that provokes the historical floods that have occured in this island. It's been like that for hours and will continue as we head into the overnight and into tomorrow morning. The outer circulation of Dennis continues to extend NE, even as far NE as Puerto Rico.

Our prayers should go out to the people in Hispaniola, specifically along the southern half of the Dominican Republic as they are getting hammered right now.

We can only pray for the best there and hope the impacts from this system is minimal at best. Looks like a very tough situation though.

Thanks for posting this reminder Hyperstorm. Praying for the folks in the DR & Haiti tonight, and also for folks in Jamaica. It must be so devastating to have this storm pounding them given the tremendous suffering from Ivan & Jeanne. May God grant them much strength in a difficult time.

The Dominican Republic is not as deforested as Haiti is, so DR has a chance. Haiti, however, is a sitting duck basically.

I really hope both countries take extra precautions in preparation of Dennis. Unfortunately, with all the unrest in Haiti, I don't know if there is much they can do.

Hopefully, Hispaniola will be able to dodge a bullet.

I was reading an article about Dennis. Haiti is under a hurricane warning, but many Haitians say that there's nothing they can do to prepare for Dennis. :(

I really hope Haiti is able to dodge a bullet wih Dennis. Haiti literally cannot afford to have another disaster.
