That "INSURANCE"maybe not so wonderful if you have to wait for 9 to 12 months for the check to come in the mail!!!!!!I know because my Aunt has not gotten her "check" yet for her house and this was during Charley of last year!!!!!!And also if we have another "BIG" hurricane season like last year some insurance will file bankruptcy and will not have to pay a thing!!!!Thats what our local agent told us last week and we have Allstate!!!!!!!

Enough! My goodness...some of you are making this place impossible!!
TexasF6 came in chat clearly announcing he wanted the hurricane to come to Texas. We basically told him he was nuts and why. I can't imagine why anyone would want their home devastated by a dangerous hurricane. But hey, that's his opinion. The best thing to do is ignore it. It doesn't matter who you think is a w!shcaster, we're tired of reading about it. We all see and read the same things you all do. Just keep it to yourself or ignore that person's posts if you don't want to read it. It's always going to happen. When you reply, you risk getting yourself involved in something that gets you in trouble here.
Furthermore, we're growing a little weary of some of you making fun of anyone who suggests why it might go west or east, particularly when they offer reasoning. It doesn't matter if you agree or not. I don't want this blasted hurricane to destroy or damage my house, but the fact is that several mets were in chat tonight and on Teamspeak explaining exactly HOW Dennis could go to Lousiana or Texas and why the models may be wrong.
Quit making fun of people for giving their opinion. We will NOT have a board where people are afraid to make comments or ask questions and that's exactly how it's becoming. I was thinking about posting some of the reasoning why the track will likely/possibly shift a little more left, but because I'm in TEXAS, it seems that many of you will think I make it all up because I want the hurricane. Storm2k is not going to be that way.

Kelly I agree. The purpose of this forum is to allow people to post their own opinions and forecasts and to ask questions without being ridiculed. Period. A dangerous hurricane is headed for the US and I understand that many of you along the gulf coast are getting nervous after last year. And I dont blame you. Lets trade opnions and forecasts and calmly discuss our different scenarios so that we may all learn from each other

I didn't see the post earlier tonight.
All I have to say is.. people can give their opinions on the storm that is fine. If you want a billion posts on each wobble then I am game.
However, I think everyone needs to relax. I can honestly say and feel free to disagree with me, that we have people who want to get hit by a hurricane. They haven't faced the storms before. Some people just don't get it until they lose a home. The post about insurance pisses me off. Why? Because everyone will be effected in the long run. Insurance rates will continue to go up. That's not something to say... oh well the insurance will take care of all the devestated homes. oh well?? that's unacceptable to me.
You might or might not be directing your post towards me, but if people can express their opinions on the storm and I feel that they are just praying for a hit I'm going to say something. Very little models AT THIS TIME have it going to Tampa or Houston. That may change. I won't disagree if it does. As of now I see Lake Charles to The Florida Panhandle in the cone with a MISSISSIPPI - ALABAMA/FLORIDA coastline hit.
I have LOTS of fun here. I enjoy this place a whole lot. I think this place benefits thousands of people. I am though getting tired of people posting things like this. If you can't control these types of posts you will lose valueable members.
Thanks,
Brent

yeah...
The drama is what bothers me. People can't take simple facts. The couple informative posts i tried to post today i had to preface with comments so people wouldn't argue.
I give up. And its not only younger people, the adults are acting like children on a playground with one shovel.

This is getting rediculous.

Do you do the same with Florida? Just curious.
I would think Florida is more realistic since the storm is actually close and/or some models suggest the panhandle, while none of the models even suggest anywhere near texas.

First of all, no...this was not directed at you. It wasn't directed at any one person in particular. We want everyone to feel comfortable posting here and it seems that every time I open a thread the last few days, someone is jumping on someone else or being a smart-alec. Nearly every thread. We've gotten complaints about newer or occasional members afraid to post for fear of getting made fun of. That's not how we want storm2k to be.
I know there are people who want to get hit by a hurricane. I don't understand it. Last year should have cured everyone! And I totally agree with you about the insurance.
You or anyone else is free to disagree with anyone on here, of course. It's just that some people are jumping on anyone who posts that they think it will go somewhere other than where that person believes, with or without reasoning to back it up. Sure, some may want it but certainly not ALL of them do and everyone from Texas and Florida seems to get lumped into this big pot of w!ishcasting when that isn't always the case. Like I said earlier, we all read the same posts...just take the ones who do it with a grain of salt and don't be so quick to discredit anyone who has a different opinion just because of their location. (no I'm not directing that at you specifically, but everyone)
I have a lot of fun here too...I LOVE storm2k and we're trying to control this so we don't lose valuable members. That's the purpose of the mods trying to step in when we see a potential problem. New people afraid to post is a problem. If you see a potential problem with a member or a thread in general, please PM a moderator so we can take appropriate action. There's no way we can read every post and we may miss it.
I apologize if you thought my previous post was directed at you.

That's fine and you're entitled to your opinion. You may very well be right too. But like I said in my first post above, several mets (and amateurs) were in chat tonight and on Teamspeak explaining exactly HOW Dennis could go to Lousiana or Texas and why the models may be wrong. So if people from Texas heard this and make comments saying it's possible, they should get made fun of?
