I'm very interested in what Mike has to say. He was pretty much right on with Cindy. However, because of my slow wireless internet connection right now, I cannot view it. Would someone be so kind to put a quick summary on here? It would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Of course you will feel an impact. This is a large and dangerous hurricane. I just feel the center, with the Category 3/4 force sustained winds will pass towards Mississippi/Alabama.

Summary:

Mike likes the UKMet right now, and thinks landfall will be west of the NHC. Maybe somewhere in between the UKMet and NOGAPS. He was stressing Mississippi, and said even residents of Texas aren't out of the woods yet. He did fail to mention Florida though.....especially since the new models just came out with a shift to the east.

He stated intensity is up from what the NHC was predicting at 11 AM in particular and thinks it could be a cat 3 at 5 PM. New Recon has confirmed that sicne he did the update. He thinks it will make landfall as a Cat 3/4.

We all know Florida will feel affects, perhaps he just forgot? I am in general agreement with his forecast (I'm sure you knew that, I've been in support of UKMET all along).

If I go down it will be in a blaze of glory I guess. Definitely the outlier in terms of models but as I read more people are in support of its ideas than I originally thought.

Excellent analysis Mike - I'm fully on board with you on this one.
It may go to the panhandle, but I'm still thinking the mouth of
the Mississippi to the MS/AL line.

I think the Keys, and the Panhandle of Florida will get the most impacts, however, I think the core of Dennis will impact between Grand Isle and Gulf Shores.

Many, just too many changing dynamics at work here....I personally would hate to be the NHC....I just hope it continues and does like predicted. They have followed the models up to this point and I expect them to do so from here on out, it just seems alot is "coming into view" as far as the environment around Dennis is concerned...

People along the Gulf Coast should be prepared for atleast the impact of Hurricane Frances.

Yes. The impact from Frances in Florida. Cat 2 force winds, gusting to cat 3, alot of rainfall, surge...a large mess. The people on the Gulf Coast should expect atleast that.

Analysis

#19 Postby jasons2k » Thu Jul 07, 2005 2:34 pm

Thanks for the analysis.

I'm still like what the UKMET has been doing and still sticking with Grand Isle to Pascagoula.

I shifted this from TX/LA earlier, I don't like to flip-flop, hopefully I didn't move east too hastily.

Ridge = Tylenol
