The track of Dennis around Jamaica, and Ivan last year south of this island, but also many other systems in the carribean islands, tend to think that storms,or hurricanes,do prefer the channels between the islands ...Of course some mechanical reasons seems to caused that observation(mountains, venturi effect between two islands, the fact that hurricanes are fueling by the sea),and some time the storm passed directly over islands(in these cases the steering current are more preeminent that the mechanical effects?).
Ther are some questions that are interestinG!!!
Perhaps Dennis because of that, should change somewat it's track to the WNW,and entering the GOM more to thje west??
These are only questions about these fantastic storms that are somewhat secrets in their behaviour!!!!

Some suggest that it's about the interaction with land and that a lot of times, storms just don't want to do it. Jamaica is almost a classic example. They get pounded from the north and south all the time though the island doesn't get hit by an eye all that often. Maybe there's some truth to it or maybe speaking of jah sets off good vibes mon.
