said as it looks right now we probably will get 20 to 25mph winds and some rain.So I think it will probably stay well west of here.

Does Sarasota even have a local TV station? I used to live there and dont remember one. Or is it some radio no brainer reading outdated material?

There are a handful of local mets I'd trust my property and life with in FL and none are in Sarasota.

Plus - we don't have a great handle on this forecast yet. Soon, but not yet for the effects on the West coast of FL. And don't forget --- we'll be on the east side of the storm which can cause plenty-o-tornados.

It is time to hope for the best, stay calm, but be prepared for whatever mother nature brings our way.

My father in law has a house on Longboat Key, west of sarasota, for those who don't know, I hope nothing happens there. He is a NORTHERNER who thinks nothing will happen ever to him. It's a long story, WWII w/ a goat to survive. . He always says "we have storm resistant glass" What is that?"?? Sometimes I hate summer in Floida.

Has an abc affiliate (channel 7 on cable) and snn (which is the offshoot of our newspaper). They did a nice job covering Jeanne and Frances last year (channel 7) but all things being equal I'd rather get my information from Tampa's NBC affiliate or (for the final word) this board. So do I bring our plants and move our cars to our office's parking garage before leaving for the weekend? We are about 5 miles from the water on the mainland...
