Pretty crazy over here in Gulf Breeze, walmart gas station here is packed with at least 30+ cars waiting behind those pumping. Walmart it self was packed like night before xmas and the funny part is there was no beer on the shelves and no toliet paper. hummmmmm
Filled up both cars this morning so good to go. Still going to send the wife and kid to Milton to sit it out with the inlaws but will PROB stay here in gulf breeze.
Wont make that discision till the last min prob wait till they get ready to close the Garson Point Bridge......
Stay safe

a couple of points:
1) my heart goes out to those of you in the Pensacola area - ya'll are just getting knocked down every time you even THINK you can get up again - hang in there! We are praying for you!
2) the price of gas was going to go up anyway, even without the storms...but multiple storms coming anywhere close to the oil rigs int he gulf was gunna spike it as well. Some people may also be dealing with price gouging, but there was going to be a jump in gas prices that would be all over the news today, if we didn't have London explosions and storms and other big stories to dominate the news.
3) I think all of us in FL, even those of us who in some weird way love hurricanes are not ready to deal with them this year...we need a break, but we aren't getting one...so we will deal the best we can.
If it makes you feel any better I just finally got someone scheduled to come out and cut down the last few trees that need to come down after last year's storms...they are scheduled to come saturday...not looking too good since we will likely be under at least a tropcial storm warning by then. oh well.

Gas stations were very busy here today, especially the ones that held the line on price increases. Many of them ran out of regular fuel. The local channel 7 Met called for the tourists to make plans to leave soon. Some of the counties south and west of here have NO shelter facilities, and limited if not single highway evacuation routes. We went shopping this evening for our food and supplies, and the shelves were emptying quickly. We asked the neighbors next door what their plans were, and they said they hadn't really thought about it, and hadn't been watching the news. They're a young couple with a baby. She said that if it looked bad, she would leave town. Well, she had better get to thinkin' and a plannin', because her time window for leaving is rapidly closing.

Re: Getting ill now
Never underestimate the wacky crazy things that tourons will do. In fact, on this very board last year, just a day or two after Charley left total devastation in parts of Orlando (like my house and my Mom's house, who just got back in after 10 months last week) someone posted asking if they would be able to come down to Disney that week and "still have a good time!"
My response was: look .. many people have lost their homes and are desperate. Hundreds of thousands have no power (some still didn't weeks later). People (like me) were standing in parking lots in 98-degree heat because of rumors that a truck MIGHT show up with ice. Grocery stores were stripped bare of essentials, even food and water. Some roads weren't passable. Gas is available only for about an hour at a time at 1 out of 5 stations until they run out, and lines for gas are often 1/2 mile lone. Most gas stations don't even have power to pump gas (even a week later). STAY AWAY!!
I just can't believe the ......
..... wackiness of some people, especially tourons. (I could have used another word that starts with an 's' and ends with a 'y,' but I'm trying to be nice).
We'll say a prayer for you. I know the last thing you guys need is another major this soon after Ivan! Just do what you can and pray for the best.
