I hope to continually update this as I have more info. Please feel free to add too.

*Fort Myers Beach has declared a state of emergency. Residents can get sandbags from their local fire stations.

*In Collier County... voluntary evacuations for persons living south or west of US 41. This includes all living in mobile homes. Some areas included are Everglade City, Isles of Capri, and Plantation Island.

* Naples pier will closing tonight @ 10.

*Glades County has a shelter on standby. It is the Maple Grove Baptist Church on St. Rd 78.

* Also, a lot of airlines at the SW Florida International Airport are waiving their change fee for now. The airport is still operating as normal.

*State Operations center in Tallahassee is operating at Level One.

There's a booming dark thunder cloud just north of Sanibel like the roiling cloud a UFO is hiding in in the movies.

We had a bullet rain downpour for 2 minutes an hour ago and now dry.

Hot and humid with blustery east breezes.

Have to force myself off the computer to do some better-safe-than-sorry preparations. (Very difficult with so much going on) Dennis is dangerous because an unexpected north turn leaves us little time in front of a dangerous storm...

greetings from Miamia airport. Was worried about the weather for my flight to West Africa via Paris, but conditions here seem fine. Breezy, overcast, but no rain. Can't believe I'm gonna be offline for the neext 26 hours and miss all the Dennis news....

Isn't this just amazing!!! All coastal areas evacuating at once!! I don't think I've ever seen this happen before! I think it proves a point though - no one knows where Dennis may go! Be safe one and all!!!

It just started raining cats and dogs in Venice. It's a bit windy as well. The first band of Dennis, I presume.

PENSACOLA

PENSACOLA

Gas is all but gone. The very few places that still have gas have block long lines. Ice is very hard to find. Traffic heading out of town is very heavy. Reports are coming in that I-65 is begining to backup (they need to open all four lanes for north bound traffic asap) Weather is hot, but skies are clear so people have good weather to prepare.
