This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

It seems to me that Dennis has enjoyed his stay in Cuba. I doubt the Cubans feel the same about his visit. I'm sure they feel he has worn out his welcome by hanging in there so long today.
They will be happy to be rid of this "guest".

In the next several hours we will see how much puch Cuba really took out of Dennis for the long term and how it will affect the overall path. Should be interesting.

I'm dead tired and forcing myself to stay awake for the discussion. I've gotta get up at 7:30am(WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too early on anyday, but gotta cut the grass at my grandma's house, if we don't get it done early, it'll be too hot later).

He's knocking at Havana right now. Almost ready to bid farewell to Cuba.

The NHC has downgraded Dennis to category 2, but from what I'm seeing of the core of the storm, it's not entirely convincing that he's weakened that much. His organization is still quite intact, there's been no disruption of the core.

I expect him to strengthen pretty rapidly once the center gets offshore. It's only the unexpected turn to the west that has weakened him this much.

Dennis might have lost of up half of his energy by the time he leaves Cuba, but he gained over 2/3rds of his strength in advance of his second landfall there.

guys, if you haven't looked at the pro mets pages, and seen the thread "Please take dennis seriously" DO SO!!! Espically for any people who might think that Dennis's trip over cuba had well how shall I say this, put him into submission.
Oh and a word to the wise on the gulf coast. If you haven't finished preps' do so ASAP, and then get out. But if you need a hotel room, you might as well go to Houston, Atlanta, or even Nashville,TN from stuff I have heard, rooms are getting scarce very fast.

He's Fifteen give him a break. How many 9th graders today can find the capital of California much less Havana Cuba.

I don't think one in fifty 9th grade students could name the capitol of California, and probably not one in ten of HS grads.

I live in Colorado, BTW. Our capitol is easy to guess, but if it wasn't easy to guess, no one would know where it is.

A bit west and south, IMO. Probably 40-50 miles.
