#1 Postby Sanibel » Sat Jul 09, 2005 1:10 am

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but Dennis just did a big heave north as he left Cuba. Could be a wobble, could be overwater shock to the structure. Could be...

I think its a wobble as he comes off cuba, but I definitely saw it on short range dopplar from the keys in GRLevel3

Every little wobble counts where its going to impact the poor panhandle/AL/LA.

It's a wobble...need 5 or 6 consistent views to note a direction change. I'm, actually, wondering why Dennis is moving much further West than the forecasted track?! http://radar.weather.gov/radar/loop/DS. ... kbyx.shtml

While I agree it is a wobble, the entire radar loop exiting Cuba is a hair N of NW.

I'll be staying up late tonight...

Again, we had two recon fixes. It shows a true northwest motion (moved the same amount north as west).

I dont quite see N of NW... I see NW for most of my frames now.

I'm going to guess its going to wobble back west in the next hour and a half (pretty significantly) or else the NHC will probably shift their track back east a bit (as it was earlier this morning/yesterday)

Just a hunch though. In other news the eye-wall (or lack thereof) is starting to show up on KTBW long range...

I think the eye is slightly bigger now.

If it doesn't correct back WNW we could be seeing a transition to the Gulf ridge...
