Serious question..

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Serious question..

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Sat Jul 09, 2005 8:19 am

Before you give me a flat out NO answer.. just explain to me why not..

With the storm paralelling the coast at this point.. Is there a chance that as it continues to move NW ward that it could decide to make a quick jerk to the right and make a landfall somewhere much further south..?

Thus giving the Peninsula much worse weather than already expected..

Note-This is not a wishcast in disguise.. it's actually a serious question

No, the mid-level ridge is still in place, I don't see any way he makes landfall any further east than Appalachicola, and even that's very unlikely at this point.

Pensacola is my prediction now.

IMHO, I think it could turn more NNw to N and move inland east of the forecasted point as of 5:00AM this morning. But for it to hit the West Coast say from Cedar Key on south, IMHO I do not htink so. It could "hug" the West Coast a little closer (say 100 miles off shore Tampa /West Coast instead of the 150 - 190mi that is forecasted). Just my opinion, may be thoughts and comments from prof. mets mught better answer your queston.

the last visible image frame looks like the center took a little northerly jog.

I don't see it. Check the radar loop here:

Seems NW to me.

I think the NHC has a real good handle on it now. Those near the projection can now turn their hopes to intensity level, IMO.

i see the radar loop. i cannot believe though that you do not see the last visible frame that shows the center kicked right a little. i am sure it is just a wobble though but it is apparent.

I'm not seeing that at all. It's moving NW.

Nope, still don't see it. I see some convection blowing up a little more on the east eyewall, could cause a brief wobble or illusion of offset movement.

I see NW movement and the wind here is moving south and east.

if you rock between the last two frames you see it. i am not arguing about it though. you cannot say you don't see the center jog north in the last frame. cannot figure how you don't see it.
