Some contemporary bands that I've heard in the past...can't at all make out the lyrics due to drowning roar of instruments, amplifiers, etc.

My husband hates that song "Holiday Road" that is on the National Lampoon Vacation movie. He says it gets stuck in his head and he can't get it out. One time I started singing it and he got extremely mad at me.

I personally hate the songs Paradise City by Guns N Roses, Girls Girls Girls by Motley Crue and Slowride by Foghat.

I can agree with your hubby on that song. :) Then again, I can also agree with your hubby WRT his taste in movies (however, I don't collect them  ).

There was a another thread about this a while back which was fun to read, too. The term to describe these annoying songs which I became familiar with several years back is "earworm."

For as much as I appreciate Barry Manilow, his songs have real earworm potential for me, especially "Mandy."

The only song in the world that makes me want to render the skin completely off my forearms with a broken plastic fork is...

"Clint Eastwood" by Gorillaz.

I hate it I hate it I hate it and it gets stuck in my head. Have I mentioned how much I hate this song and that I'm singing it now?

I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
The future is coming on
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
My future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My future

Ahhh...Minni! Boy that IS a song that irritates to the soul when you hear it!

However, I really think Tiptoe Through The Tulips with Tiny Tim takes the words "love to hate" to a whole new level.

We would have to go back a few years ( or decades!) "Come on Eileen" and "My sharona".

I walked into a store yesterday and Come on Eileen was playing and my kids had a great time laughing at me because I couldn't turn it off! They know how much I hate it. They have an eighties disc that they listen to but I never let them listen to that song!

Recently saw this video on the "40 Most Awesomely Bad Break-up Songs...Ever" on VH1 that's titled, "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" by Cinderella. Couldn't stand it after listening to it.

Also to add to my "Songs I Love to Hate" list is Tony Yayo's "So Seductive".

I absolutely HATE the song "My Ding A Ling" and my husband kids know that and will purposefully start singing it....I start singing lalalalalalalalalalal lalalalalalala and covering my ears and they get louder and louder till its a shouting match...they think it's funny....drives me absolutely nuts!!!!!!!!!!

The other is "Please Daddy Don't Get Drunk On Christmas".............my dad was an alcoholic and it just makes me remember really bad times.

While they are not "earworms" I hate them!!

Get a blanket, hunker down in a corner with your thumb in your mouth, and repeat after me..."Safe place...safe place...safe place..."
