To Lighten Up A Little - "Hurricane" Playlist?

#1 Postby MuleChewingBriars » Sat Jul 09, 2005 6:33 pm

I mean, I can listen to Neil Young's "Like A Hurricane", Bob Dylan's "Hurricane" and the Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane" on a loop for only so long.

How about the Alman Brothers' "Stormy Monday"?

PS I love it. I moved from Orlando to Pensacola just three weeks ago. I moved to Orlando from Miami after Andrew. I'm more of a 'cane magnet than that TWC guy. :)

How about "Stormy Weather"?

There is also the America? song that contains lyrics like "an eagle in a hurricane that's abandoned."

During the wee hours of the morning while listening to US 1 radio out of Big Pine Key as the effects of Dennis were growing on Key West, a conch requested Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" for all the streaming broadcast listeners that were calling in (Kansas, Switzerland, Germany, etc.).

I was thinking more along the lines of Jimmy Buffet's "The Weather is Here (Wish You Were Beautiful)".

"Stormy Weather" by The Pixies
"Eye of the Hurricane" by Herbie Hancock
"Hurricane" by Lisa Loeb
"Hurricane" by The Verlaines

The first song that came to my mind was "Bad Moon Rising" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. And let's not forget "Windy" by the Association. 8-)

I can think of at least a couple songs by the group "Hurricane"....i.e. "Over the Edge" or "Messin' with a Hurricane".

How about "Flirtin' with Disaster" but Molly Hatchet?

Soon it's gonna rain

#19 Postby jimvb » Sat Jul 09, 2005 8:10 pm

"Soon it's gonna rain" in the musical "Fantasticks". Also, "In Hetherford, Hartford, and Hampshire, Hurricanes Hardly Happen". By the way that's wrong. The New England hurricane of 1938 hit Hartford, CT.

Or change the lyrics of existing songs. Perhaps

"Everything's coming up canes"

That's too pessimistic. How about

"Everything's coming up fish"

Also, "Dennis in the sea with winds" (would work better with Hurricane Lucy), "Dennis Sea Waltz", "Keep it Coming, Wind", by the BeeGees, and so forth.

Also, I don't know what made Storm2k post my last message twice.
