Sick feeling this is gonna be REALLY BAD

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Sat Jul 09, 2005 7:50 pm

I wasn't alive for Camille..

But I did see the various photos of storms like Hugo, Andrew, Opal, and of course my 3 last year..

I have a sick feeling this storm is gonna be up there in "damage shock" as in.. "Oh my god, I can't believe this"...

As I'm watching it make it's northward jog.. I'm still praying it doesn't make a quick right turn lol {even though that's virtually impossible}

Lets all say prayers tonight for S2kers and anyone else in the potential bulls eye of this storm.

Its hard to imagine that just this morning all the mets were saying Dennis would be cat 2 or 3 by landfall. Even heard one "expert" say that there was not enough deep warm water to intensify Dennis much :eek:

Well Canegrl.. this bad boy has plenty of time over water still.. I'm a little afraid now.. I don't want it to get up to Andrews' winds.. but the thought of that potential frightens me for everyone up there

LOL.. Sounds wierd from me to hear that right lol

Just this storm seems to scare me.. Even though 99.9 percent of the votes say it's not coming here.. I'm still fearing a sharp right turn because it's so close..

But at the same time.. These people went through Ivan.. and it's kinda scary.. I still love the power of the wind, and am fascinated by it.. But this storm seems to have "catastrophic" written all over it

Hurricanes can be quite unpredictable.

We've all heard that at some point. I think most of us think of that unpredictability on the negative side, such as the cane suddenly "bombing". But it can also go the other way. There have been systems in the past that inexplicably weakened, even though all the enviromental factors seemingly favored intensification.

John, I can well understand your feeling but perhaps things won't turn out quite as badly as most of us think they will. (Of course, those in Dennis' path should be prepared for any eventuality. It would be foolhardy not to.)

Well, I am in for a real ride. The storm seems to be coming to P'Cola and I am just east of that city. I find it hard to believe it went from and Cat 2 to a Cat 4 in just an afternoon. I have boarded up and stocked up, but I am unsure that my old house will hold up to this type of storm. I could not evacuate since I work at a fire department and have to be on duty as soon as the storm is over. Please send prayers our way, seems that we will need them.

I hope noone is in Mobile...This is going to devastate Mobile, IMO. It could take years for Mobile to recover if this thing hits the AL/MS line. I'm sure the interstate bridge over the bay will be washed away, as well. How will we get to Florida & Gulf Shores from New Orleans if this occurs? We have got to pray this thing weaker. I'm serious.
