Tampa Bay Area - Bayshore Blvd TS Conditions Since 5 pm

#1 Postby PerfectStorm » Sat Jul 09, 2005 9:20 pm

Reporting in on the conditions in the S Tampa Area, have had sustained winds over 30 mph on Bayshore for several hours now. I live in S Tampa off of Dale Mabry. I recorded a 52 mph wind gust (digital gauge) at Intersection of Bay to Bay and Bayshore, keep in mind wind speeds are highly variable. Channeling of wind around buildings can cause higher speeds.

Starting to see widespread limb damage over several locations in South Tampa, too. Winds are also creating wave overwash on Bayshore. Tide is outgoing so flooding not an issue yet.

Pretty wild so far tonight.

Thanks for the update! Batton down those hatches and be glad you still have power. I have some friends in the Ft. Myers area and I am sure they are experiencing similar conditions.

With the bay area tides running very high right now when the winds swing our of the SW later on the flooding is going to be unreal.

Went out for a bite to eat and was suprised by a gust or two. Bayshore is indeed quite interesting right now.
We'll see how it gets later on tonight. I'm by the intersection of Swann and MacDill and its been gusty recently, but nothing to rattle the house...
