Broward County observed conditions...

#1 Postby tropical » Sat Jul 09, 2005 1:48 am

I live in northern Ft. Lauderdale about 3 miles from the beach (Andrews Ave. & Commercial Blvd.) and I was just outside. It's breezy, and very warm and muggy. We had some rain earlier in the day, but nothing in the last several hours. The sky is mostly clear, with a few sporadic clouds whizzing by rather quickly. I hear a gust every now and then, but overall I'd call it a warm heavy breeze, with no visible signs of banding.

Enjoy it. We here in the Tampa Bay area just had a tremedous squall pass through in the last hour.  More of the same today & tonight. But he Panhandle will unfortunatly get the worst of it   Stay safe.

A big band just passed over with huge gusts and torrential rain. I saw a big blue/green flash when I peeked outside, probably a transformer blowing somewhere. It seems to have passed, but that was the first significant band to pass overhead here so far. It lasted for about 5 minutes.

Haha, I did that during Jeanne and Frances.

It hasn't hit yet. Seems like the whole band is somehow missing us due to the NW motion haha.

Big squall passing through right now with heavy wind gusts and driving rain. Tropical storm-like conditions for the last 10 minutes or so. Still no loss of power in my neighborhood.

We just had that line thru here. Blew a frond out of a Queen Palm in my front yard and almost got one of my new Crotons that I planted yesterday. :grr:
