Irresponsible!
WKRG 15 reporter in Robertsville, AL is interviewing an emergency management coordinator. First, she says they have "Very good news" from the NWS that Dennis' winds are down to 130 mph. Next, the emergency attache said that "we have even more good news" that Dennis' eye "is not as large as Ivan's."
This is terrible if people think that this is going to be as "mild" as Ivan.

I just saw that--her choice of words is terrible. She tried to qualify it later by saying that 'good news' was only relative, but she hosed this one.

The storm is already becoming better oreganized...In at 18 mph the slightly cooler(82 to 84 degree waters) Should not effect it...In really that has more to do with a slow moving storm upwelling the warm water on the surface. I think this could hold its own intill the coast...With maybe a slight chance of regaining.

130, 140 ~~ What real difference does it make now? This storm will cause severe to extreme damage at whatever location it hits first and this storm will extend as far north as Memphis as a tropical storm and then it will stall in the Ohio Valley because there will be nothing to push it out ~~ meaning massive massive flooding.
That is the point here.

I (in Memphis) am under a Tropical Storm Watch. Not to mention a Flood watch. Certainly nothing like our Gulf Coast neighbors are about to go through though.
Folks 130, 140, whatever, some people are about to lose their homes and perhaps their lives.

Right, the problem was what the newscaster said about the 140 to 130 drop "This is good news!"--and she was very peppy about it, sounding like they no longer had anything to worry about. She just came across as very glib (there's you a 50 cent Tom Cruise word)
