Dennis Was a Strong CAT 4 and Generated CAT 4 WAVES that has to come ashore.....They will CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE! Just Like Ivan did!

NHC reduced Dennis winds from 140 to 120 mph minutes before landfall. i dunno about Dennis. He may be less than Ivan once hindsight is equated into the picture

There's more factors than that you need to include into the damage equation, besides just your presumptions of the windfield.

Area is under construction, numerous projectiles, storm surge, duration of storm, spawned cyclones, rain flooding, beach erosion, etc...

We have not yet had any reports for the East side... I was in Mobile for Ivan and it was no big deal - further East things were different.

It's entirely possible that the worst of Dennis will be far north of the coast. It's unwise to underestimate the destruction that a hurricane can cause. If Dennis as projected stalls over the Ohio River Valley, the flood damage could be catastrophic.

Tropical strorm Allison was just a strong blow. And then it rained, and rained, and rained...

I will be THRILLED if there is far less impact and damage from Dennis than Ivan. I will not consider it a "dud" at all. I will simply be thankful that lives and property were spared. Both along the coast and for interior areas.

It has been an interesting storm to watch develop and I know I have learned some new things from it. I hope others have as well.
