I'm glad that Mobile was spared a direct hit, but let's not forget...Dennis is forecast to stall out far inland. If he does, there will be MANY people in many states affected by severe flooding, mudslides and other Dennis-related devastation.
By no means is it time to celebrate or label Dennis a dud. He's still got a lot of opportunity to wipe out homes, businesses and lives. I say this as someone far inland (Atlanta) whose home was flooded by Ivan and narrowly missed having 2 75ft pines drop on their home (while occupied, no less).
Dennis isn't through yet.

It would've meant so much less if he hadn't thrown in a big fat Yee Haw in his subject line.
Good point Purdue....Also had a few Bumps with No explanation... Hopefully I covered it for him!

Come on! I don't think he meant anything insensitive. Its not just that Mobile missed the eye, but even where he did make landfall, it seems that things aren't that bad. This storm weakened almost like Lily did a few years ago. Dennis was really falling apart before he made landfall. All the live reports I've been watching indicate that, also hardly any winds measured above hurricane force.

Agreed. It seems some people can't pass up an opportunity to display their higher moral understanding of a given situation. I don't wonder why each thread has infinitely more "views" than "posts".

I don't think he ment it to insult and being in the same situation myself in the past can't blame him for being relieved. It is human to just let go and express happiness when you go through all the emotions of getting ready for a hurricane that could wipe you out, the waiting and watching. The stress is terrible.
Glad to hear you were spared and pray for those who took the blunt of Dennis.

Maybe he's supposed to be mad and disappointed that he didn't lose his house, family, or own life. Wait, it's not that. He didn't speak in euphemisms...maybe that's the problem. Saying "yee haw" is so insensitive. Maybe he should have found some nice latinate word that would have either confused most people or meant nothing to the rest, that way no one would have been offended; Exultation! would have been better than Yee Haw!
