Who's Your Least Favorite Field Hurricane Reporter

For me, Jim Cantore took the cake last year durine Jeanne when he donned a pair of swim goggles and stood leaning face-on into the wind. That is the moment to which I will yardstick all of this year's antics.

I will say that Anderson Cooper annoys me to no end, and I was actually on my feet cheering when the big "M" from the Ramada sign went whizzing past his silly little head. Wasn't there a scene in "The Day After Tomorrow" with an anchor "on scene" in downtown LA during the freak tornados that had an eerie similarity?

Maybe we should have a poll of which newscaster will be the first to get himself killed on air durring a hurricane. Last year durring Charlie some guy almost got it from roof debris, and it seems every year some newscaster keeps suprising me with their stupidity. I think it is just a matter of time before one of them gets themselves killed.

Notice how Stephanie Abrams is on desk duty this year? Didn't she get whacked on the head with a piece of ceiling tile last year during Frances? Maybe she is too much of a liability in the field for the '05 season... Guess it looks like there won't be a "who looks best in a wet shirt" at least regarding chicks, thread this season.... Haven't seen too many ladies representing so far...

HAHAHAHAHAHA. At least I don't feel so bad about being honest now Melissa. I don't usually watch his news program, but I knew who he was. I wanted him to get bashed. I was almost ashamed, but seeing that you were cheering, I don't feel so bad anymore . I was only hoping.

geraldo hands down. Did anyone see the shot where he was talking about severe flooding and stomped across a parking lot with about 3 inchs of water in it. My parents laughed so hard at that. I thought they were going to pass out from laughing so hard.

I just thought of my second favorite moment of the '04 season: The Al Roker Hurricane Jeanne giant love hug despensed to Jim Cantore on the shores of the FL East Coast. They were the cutest couple on the beach that day, and if I remember my sequence of events correctly, this preceded the goggles incident by only moments. It was a stellar day of broadcasting, people. I and a small group of friends were already enveloped in a fast paced hurricane drinking game - hearing the top scoring "hunker-down" earned the finishing of your entire drink - needless to say, we were all snockered and I think it was only 2 in the afternoon. Memories...

That looks like the guy. Honestly, we were worried about him because we have very similar construction amongst the beach motels here and I doubt any of them could withstand Hurricanes of CAT2! Then, when they never got back to him, we hoped he didn't run into a lot of trouble and was unable to report.

You'll be happy to know he was on today's 11 AM ABC13 broadcast, reporting from Destin. Didn't really say anything new from what we've already heard. There was a large piece of some debris swinging precariously behind him from a balcony. But neither he nor the on-air anchors mentioned it.

He appeared unscathed though.

I've been stuck on CNN, because they bring the most in your face coverage. TWC hypes up the storm by holding onto polls and acting like they are going to be blown away. Out of the 4 Cooper is my fav. and Rivera just has no real career for any aspect of the news media. People just don't like him lol.

Jeff Morrow had a good segment in there being blown back by a wind gust when the eyewall was coming through....he was hanging on to a telephone poll to keep himself up. Fox News Channel blew it in my opinion when they started running video from TS Cindy and Lake Ponchetrain in LA. Geraldo just plain makes me laugh with his coverage. Cooper/Zarella were absolutely hilarious in their coverage of things and the Ramada Sign coming down was dangerous but Cooper's reporting of it was just plain funny. I'm not sure where that guy was from who was at the Pensacola Civic Center or what station he was from but his reporting during the eyewall was probably the best and most down to earth.

After Geraldo tripped over the tree branch he was dragging last night while on camera, he definitely wins!

It was definitely a classic - waiting for clips to appear on the 'net.

He was talking about getting a facial from the rain, then tried to exhibit some fallen tree branches. I heard him yell when I was in the kitchen and went to see what had happened - there's Geraldo on his bum with a silly look on his face (FYI: there were no skinheads in the immediate vicinity). He mumbled something about taking a break.

When they came back from commercial, Geraldo was once again on his feet and meekly announced that he had just fallen on his "a$$" on camera... Classic!

Yes, that was Don Germaise from ABC in Tampa. I noticed that he was not in the storm chaser coverage this year. They had Bill Logan doing it. Wonder why?

Ha! Exactly what I was thinking, like the scene from Day After Tomorrow. I actually think it was a giant sign that took the reporter out in the flick.

And I did see Cantore have the goggles on yesterday, only saw it for about 15 seconds, but he definitely had em on!



I can't believe Sanchez isn't winning! I thought there were more S. Florida people here. I guess we'll have to re-ask again when a Cat 5 is bearing down on Miami......like this weekend maybe.....
