I wish I had it, can't find that anywhere. Not hard to find the CNN/Anderson Cooper video though.

I had missed it before. It didn't take him more than a few milliseconds to duck out of view!

Yeah, I saw it....All i can say is G-O-O-D....THAT WAS PURE ACTING..... I love it when Leno Rips into someone....Another thing I would like to say is "Why was my post on this, which WAS THE VERY FIRST POST on his "lighting strike", LOCKED BY THE MODS IMMEDIATELY???????????????????????????????????????????????.

I even Started it with "Light Humor"
I'm glad Leno grabbed it...Made me feel a little vindicated. :D :D :D :D :D

Do realize that the lightning was close and those live trucks are lightning rods with their masts up in the air. They never should have gone live with lightning nearby. He may have reacted a little too much though. Its still good video.

My sister was THERE, and I was talking to her on her cellphone durring his taping...If she said it was total crap, I have to believe her no matter what anyone says.
But I do totally agree, Their antenna does go way up, lighting was everywhere, and they should not go with it near by.....but............It wasn't near by according to my sis...

If your sister was there I would have to believe her :D Acting or not, it was still a good laugh.

Does anyone remember Charlie and Stephanie Abrams seriously acting like she was being blown away by 30 mph winds? She also tried doing shots where it looked the worst. I heard she got in a little trouble for it and thats why she hasn't done field reporting since.

I searched for it and found a handful of sites that link to MSNBC.com, but the video is no longer there.

It's late and I need to get to bed. But if I get a chance tomorrow, I'll try a handful of other search options and see if I can find it where someone possibly saved it on their own site. :)

- Big lightning strike
- Mike ducks off camera
- Mike bops back up and hollers, "THAT WAS A QUARTER OF A MILE AWAY!" while looking like he just browned his britches
- TWC cuts to previous footage as planned
- TWC cuts back to Mike
- Another nearby lightning strike
- Mike cowers
- Mike appears to have added to the load in his britches
- Mike hollers "WE GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE BACK TO YOU [WEATHER DUDE AT TWC]" and runs off camera.

I thought he really did look terrified, so if that was acting, he needs to move to Hollyweird ASAP.

I dunno about that clip, but I get the feeling that Mike would really like to get a job where he doesn't have to do hurricane field reporting anymore.

He seemed quite happy to be covering the golf tourney a few weeks ago while others were in the storm (can't recall whether it was Arlene or Cindy).

Thanks for filling me in. That's hillarious! I told my wife that when he is out in the storms reporting with his rain slicker over his head, he's got a real worried, frightend look. It's kinda funny. Wasn't he reporting from Mobile?

Dang it! Still no luck! I guess everyone thought they could link to MSNBC's copy of the video and it would be there forever! Grrrr....!

Here's a blog about it...but still no video.

*Guffaw*

A couple days ago, we had the "tail end" of a derecho-from-Hell blow through Minneapolis at noon (rare time of the day for here), and, as the rain was easing up, super-mega-amp anvil-to-ground positive-stroke lightning bolts like you wouldn't believe just blasted the whole metro to kingdom-come. There were house fires and blowing-up gas mains everywhere, and the police-scanner was non-stop squawking for two straight hours.

Then everybody forgot about it, because, after all, it's just livin' on the plains up here. -- It wasn't even the lead on the evening news.

To go back a bit in the thread. The thing about the trucks is true. One day we had a severe storm rolling in from the SE and it was throwing out CG like there was no tomorrow. I got on the the radio and told everyone in the field to immediately cease all outside activity and take cover immediately. Unfortunately, Fort Huachuca has dual Met Support-the Host Command and airfield are supported by the USAF Forecasters at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson and the observers at the airfield while I supported the Testing agencies and the Ranges. They also had an advisory out but didn't have the detection gear that I had. Anyway, there was this 2Lt from the Signal Unit who was conducting some sort of operation with a Commo Van with the antennas deployed and he lined up his troops in formation outside the van as the boomer approached-he and his group were all knocked to the ground when lightning hit the antennas on the van-all survived but two were hospitalized. Though the Met Support agreements never changed, the rest of the Post quickly began to monitor the range net during bad weather to catch my advisories.
