Geez guys! How did a whole TX/FL war start raging over this??? I was gone from my desk for a few hours and was suprised to see this thread still going! -and most of it griping.
All that was shown in my initial quote was that the ridge could head more north... I was pointing out that because of that possibility, the US would probably have to deal with Emily and it wouldn't just head straight into the Yucatan. Nowhere in that quote was there any pointing of eventual landfall (whether TX or FL) in the Ruskin comments.
And regarding their comment during Dennis about the ridge eroding to the northeast, they were right...the southwestern part fo the ridge did erode slightly, allowing the more NW turn quicker than many of the models had depicted at the time. They said this when Dennis was still SE of Jamaica. They also indicated in the same information I quoted that day that the ridge would also be building back in over the northern part of Florida later. They were right on as far as I saw.
Some folks here just took out the snippits of what they wanted to hear or what they wanted to argue about rather than the whole post.
