why do you think the ridge will weaken
Although it seems like high pressure systems have been lingering indefinitely this year, it seems to me that expecting it to remain there and as strong as it currently is 3 or 4 days from now is a lot to expect. I just don't see it. Again, I'm just a rookie. But I have a feeling it is going to weaken some, allowing her to eventually take a more NW track. Of course, the threat to the U.S. will be determined by how far she gets before the ridge weakens. Personally, I think she's going to get just north of the Yucatan before it weakens, and she'll feel her way along the ridge--traveling NW toward Corpus to Houston.
Then there's the other factor which favors the ridge weakening--the number of oil rigs that exist in that neck of the woods. The last thing our economy needs right now is higher oil prices, and evacuating all of those rigs would surely send prices even higher. I can barely keep my gas-guzzling SUV on the road the way things are now. So I figure with my luck she's bound to travel right through the heart of oil rig country.
How's that for scientific?
