FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
210 PM CDT WED JUL 13 2005

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LEAGUE CITY HAS ISSUED AN URBAN AND
SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR HARRIS COUNTY UNTIL 500 PM CDT
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

AT 200 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY
HEAVY RAIN FROM NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS LOCATED ACROSS HARRIS COUNTY.

THESE STORMS ARE PRODUCING RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER
HOUR AND WITH THE SLOW MOVEMENT WILL LIKELY CAUSE FLOODING OF
STREETS...FRONTAGE ROADS...HIGH UNDERPASSES AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS
AVOID LOCATIONS WHERE WATER COVERS THE GROUND!

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

PLEASE REPORT FLOODING TO THE COUNTY SHERIFF...LOCAL POLICE...OR
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY. THEY WILL RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

Uh... I think we got more than 'a little more' but it was nice to see the yard get some water we didn't have to pay for!

Yup. Here we had horizontal gully washer rain from the east. Then changed to 45 degree angle from the south, then from the west. There was hail reported near here but I didn't see any. Did see the out door thermometer go from 103 to 78 in just a few minutes tho!

And our power flickered 5 times...

But stayed on in the end.

I wish I had had that much. My guage says less than an inch, but I haven't sloshed out to see if it is vapor lock mode again. The yard sure says more than that and the amount and intensity of the rain tell me it is more but I need to check the guage first. None of the Weatherbug sites near me seem to be working on the rain guages so I can't rely on them either.

Any way we look at it though WE LOVE THE RAIN!!!!
