I still say this is all hogwash - Rex HAS to be alive. Sure, put out articles like this all summer long. I still won't buy that Rex dies!

Housewives' Sexy Rex Says Goodbye

Desperate Housewives
Rex Van De Kamp didn't stand a chance. Bree's S&M-loving hubby (played by Steven Culp) went the way of Mary Alice and Mrs. Huber in the season finale of Desperate Housewives — but series creator Marc Cherry says his demise was a long time coming. "Bree is based on my mom. And my dad died, so I told poor Steven, 'Had my dad lived, you'd still have a job.'" Rex won't be the last Wisteria Lane resident to bite the dust, Cherry reveals. "Somebody will meet a surprising end at least once a year," he says. Here, an unbelievably upbeat Culp talks about his departure, his reaction and his plans.
TV Guide: We're so sorry. You finally found joy in your sex life and then you had to die!
Steven Culp: How like life. [Laughs]
TVG: How did you find out that Rex was toast?
Culp: In April the guys from the show went on Celebrity Poker Showdown [airing on Bravo in the fall]. I came back from that feeling very pleased with myself. After about a half hour I got a call saying, "They'd like to see you in the producers' office this afternoon." I knew what was coming.
TVG: Were you angry?
Culp: If it's where Marc wants to go, I'm not going to argue, because it's his vision that made the show such a huge hit.
TVG: You didn't say, "Hey, wait a second! I have some great ideas for Rex"?
Culp: I did mention [doing more of] the S&M stuff, and Marc said we pretty much went as far as we could with that on network television. I'm not quite sure if he was ready to see his surrogate mother in bondage gear. [Laughs]
TVG: Looks like there may be more Wisteria Lane men dying.
Culp: Hey, the show was never called Desperate Husbands. It's kind of great to be the first one [to go], because I think it's going to have the most impact.
TVG: Will you still be watching?
Culp: Well, one of my favorite characters will be gone. But Marcia Cross doesn't watch the show — she's too critical of her work — so somebody is going to have to let her know how she's doing. [Laughs]
TVG: What's next for you?
Culp: You know, I was killed on Enterprise. On JAG, I was left for dead twice. And this year, Rex died. This could be a new career for me. I'm the go-to guy for May sweeps deaths.

(Excerpt from an article about Marcia Cross' experience doing the season finale and a link to the full article with PICTURES!!! As far as I can tell, no spoilers in the full article. Definitely none in the excerpt.)

LOL - TV sure is dull right now isn't it? We watched a 5 episode Two and a Half Men Marathon last week, to get our weekly show fix. As I call it. Last night's TAHM episode was quite funny too. But it's not the same.
I am watching Lost, pilot forward into the end of this season, if I remember to record it. So that's current, for me anyways....he he.
I could have gotten into TNT's 6 part movie about taming the wild west. But it seemed like a huge committment. I'm in Summer mode. Miss my regular shows, like you do Shawn!

Another juicy tidbit for DH fans!!! This would be neat, if they decide to do it! I've always wondered how Gabby fits in with the other wives, since she's a good 10 years younger than they are. But if the writers go back in time to explain the origins of Wisteria Lane's residences, Gabby will be High School!

Desperate Housewives
WISTERIA LANE: THE PREQUEL: Did you ever wonder how Bree, Lynette, Susan and Gabrielle came to live on Wisteria Lane? Well, Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry has — and he's ready to tell all. "At one point, I would love to do an episode showing the day when all the women moved onto Wisteria Lane," he says. "I don't know if it's a Season 2 thing or a Season 3 thing. But it's something I want to do in the future." Even more appealing to Cherry, such a time warp would allow the scribe to welcome back such deceased Wisterians as Mrs. Huber and Rex. "I would want everyone back," he enthuses. "I would love to always keep my little repertory company as close to me as possible." And as far away from one another as possible.

I've been wondering because I knew filming was to resume just after the 4th.

amid suspicious circumstances that make it seem like he was the victim of blackmail, and could easily set off a long quest for revenge by one of his surviving family members...
Paul anyone???? Felicia Tillman blackmailed him... She isn't exactly on Zach's side right now.

Okay then, IF we can believe this list of spoilers, then Rex did not die? I knew, if we can trust this link. Not saying you'd drum up a bogus link Shawn....but I still say Rex took off and is alive somewhere. I was just beginning to like the guy. He can't die!
Gabby, oh Gabby. God Almightly, isn't having two of your men in jail enough, why begin another romance, while you're preggo to boot! She is ~still~ my least favorite character. Her only saving grace would be she'd love motherhood so much, she'd fire the nanny and willingly change diapers and play with the baby. If she's the hands-off mother I think she'll be, kid being completely raised by a nanny, then I rest my case - selfish character.
Lynnette - still my favorite character. Don't know why really since I've loved being a stay at home mom all these years but something about how she struggles to find her place in life seems....well, real to me! Susan and her constant pratfalls are comical, but feel forced. When you see Lynette still her in pj's at 4 in the afternoon, kids running around, making a huge mess, that feels real.
Looking forward to Season #2.

I hate to say it, but GetDesperate is one of the most reliable spoiler sources that exists. If they say something, I believe it.

Miss Mary wrote:Well, good. I want Rex to be alive!
I'm confused... Rex is alive??? I took that to mean "put to rest doubts he's dead", meaning he's dead.
I want him alive too... I thought it was a crummy way to kill him off and that's why I am still suspicious. Mary Alice, Martha, Mama Solis we all saw die, we did not with Rex.
When the coroner lifts up the sheet to reveal Rex's body, that should put to rest all rumors that Rex didn't really die in last year's season finale.
That says he's dead to me.
Put to rest to me means to say "he's really dead"
I hope I'm wrong though.

Spoilerfix:
Hmmmm.....
07/11 - Bree identifies the body of her dead husband, while John is in jail, a few cellblocks away from Carlos. Lynette has a series of job interviews at an ad agency, which go quite well. Gabrielle is in the hospital with a broken arm, and a detective is taking a statement. Kendra's dad died, and she tries to get the autopsy report. Source: SpoilerFix.com
07/12 - Seems Joely ['s character] isn’t so understanding when it comes to baseball games and school field trips … not so much the maternal type. I’m hearing there’s a scene in the morgue in the season opener … NOT a good sign for Rex ! I’ve heard that BOTH of Gabrielle's men will be in jail this season, which would open her up to a new love interest, which they are indeed planning! Source: Kristin on E!Online

LOL, Mary! That I am!
New question -- In your opinion, is DH a comedy or a drama? Apparently, there's some uproar about DH being nominated for an Emmy in the comedy category. (BTW, did I tell you guys I slept with an Emmy for two weeks? Seriously, not talking about my sex life. When I petsat/housesat for a couple of weeks last month, there on a special shelf in the corner was a beautiful Emmy statuette in the room in which I slept. Got a pic of it on my camera, but can't find the software right now so I can download it.
)
Anyway, IMO if other shows that were "dramedies" could be nominated and/or win Emmys like "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd," "Ally McBeal," and "Doogie Howser, M.D," then why can't "Desperate Housewives?"

Comedy. It's funnier than any present-day sitcoms IMO.
