Pretty much the same story as all the old timers. PBI (Lowes) was getting really out of hand and Chad, MFDolphin, etc. started this board. I came over with Mike Watkins, Steve_in_VA, Galveston Duck, Rainband and Cycloneye to name a few during the first week of operations. Been loving it here ever since.
Thanks guys and girls for starting and maintaining this quality place to follow our obsessions!. It's still the best weather board around!!!( I think-never go anywhere else)

Well I started in 2000 with Storm2000/PBI. Anyway, Storm2000 used to give away t-shirts every week to 10 posters?(Something like that...) Do any of you old timers remember that? Well, I got one and I still have it! Then somehow I think I got an e-mail telling me about this new message board Storm2K.

That also means you work with Frank P. even if you don't know it.
Nah, he works in an entirely different area than we do. Dey's a lot of buildings out here, paw paw.
Tell "BC" that dinner the other night was fabulous.
I did. He said to tell you "Yo Mama."

I help moderate a Cigar BB.....one of my fellow board moderators and good friend from New Orleans turned me on to this site as Ivan was approaching last year. Been lurking ever since.
I've learned quite a bit from reading everyone's posts, and this site has been an invaluable source of information......as I work in the Telcom business and am required to remain on duty during any threat of Hurricane strike in our general area. Luckily, due to the nature of our business we never lose power so I'm able to keep up with the very latest GOOD information right here.
This last point was driven home very hard during Dennis.....while at home, all I had access to was TWC....
I had never noticed before how long it takes them to give you any real info/data on the storm itself.....all the time is spent on "human interest" stories.

I was posting over at hurricanecity for a while and kept hearing from jimw, greatone, et al. of how HORRIBLE Storm2K was. So after the gillionth time of hearing it, I decided to come see just how HORRIBLE it was. After reading a few posts and seeing a bunch of people from the old TWC days over here, I fell in love with Storm2K and never returned to HC.
But I do have to admit that I miss the old days of the TWC boards, including the TWC Chats with Dr. Lyons, etc.
