This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Who will be the target in August/September!

#1 Postby mobilebay » Sat Jul 16, 2005 12:27 am

OK. We have had an exciting July to say the least. Now how much will the Pattern shift in August, and September? Who do think will be the biggest targets in this record breaking season?
I think the Florida Peninsula, and the North Central GOM, and Northeastern GOM. Not trying to be a homer, thats just what I believe, especially in September. I just don't believe we will have many fish this year. I do think Texas maybe under the gun in August.

Texas never sees too darn much. *Sigh*

Ummm well, we've had 5 storms form, and all 5 have / will be GOM storms. So i'm keeping with the pattern - GOM this year. East coast spared.

I think this is a GOM year period. Things were already pointing to that in the beginning of the season and its definitely verifying so far. I think we may deal with one or two threats to the east coast during the peak period, but I think what we've seen so far can only be expected to continue.

I think we'll end up having several fish this year, but those that don't will just have a better chance of following similar paths to Dennis or Emily rather than moving up the east coast. Still there is a chance of it, depending on the ridge and such.

Who knows though, I'm really just guessing at this point. This season has already been crazy enough and I'm sure it will get crazier. :D

CAREFUL! If this High continues as it is now the Texas Coast could be looking down the Barrel of a loaded gun in August/Early September.

There is no doubt when the fronts start coming down the CONUS in September that the Florida Peninsula, and the Carolina's will be under the gun. By the way, where is the Carolina contingent this season? For some reason I keep having a bad feeling about the Mississippi coast this season.

I have a feeling as soon as there is a storm on their side of the basin, they'll be here in full force  Should be interesting August and September that is. Im hoping (-removed-, ya caught me!) that the Panhandle and South Alabama will be spared from any other storm. We cannot handle anymore and Im about tired of constantly worrying about it. Please go somewhere else!

LOL! I wanted to put that in the first post and forgot (when I was mentioning the Northern GOM). I just really believe that the 2005 Hurricane season is not through with the Northern GOM.

Well, GOM is what the early predictions/forecasts were pretty much pointing at last winter & spring. Keep in mind, last year at this time we STILL had another FOURTEEN DAYS TO GO before we even had our first named storm!! Last year at this time, this board was booooooorrrrrriiiinggg!!

We saw enough 105 years ago. I'll settle for fishes.

And for the record, the 1900 Storm was in September.

It only takes one...and I don't care what month it falls in, I DON'T WANT IT!

I think it will be "September, remember" for South East Florida. This is a complete Fig Newton (figment of the imagination and is not based upon any science whatsoever...) other than the setup of strong Bermuda HIgh with the possibilty of descending fronts in Septmeber to recurve storms towards Florida....

I hope not. But I have been worried. Don't like the looks of it at all. I hope things shut down in the Atlantic, perhaps picking up In the EPAC in late August.

I think by August and September the bahamas and maybe South and North Carolina could see some activity.

I hate to even say this since I am from this area but I think Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi will see a lot of action.
