NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
815 AM EDT SAT JUL 16 2005
REPORTS FROM AN AIR FORCE RESERVE HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT INDICATE
THAT THE CENTRAL PRESSURE OF EMILY HAS FALLEN TO 944 MB AND THAT
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO 145 MPH.

Just a thought...
I'm an amateur, and admit I'm not extremely well versed on these things, but it almost appears as though Emily has entrained some dry air that she's trying to spit out? It appears dry air is entrained on the north and west sides of the storm, to me anyway. Perhaps there is some other explanation that evades me. Regardless, if Emma is able to wrap those outlying bands into her circulation, she'll be a much larger storm.
