You should be fired and go back to meteorology school(if Em strikes Texas),since now Emily's forecast track has changed more northward

Ive always thought Brownsville would get the worst conditions...and I still do. Yesterday I thought it would pass south of the TX/MX border, but today I think a direct hit on the Rio Grande Mouth (Brownsville basically) is likely.

BTW, its trending more north today, its almost due east of the NHC forecast point.

If they said that this is not going to hit any where between southern Mexico in northern Texas. I highly agree. Every one needs to watch this.

Hey, where is that guy who promised us all $500 each if Em struck Texas? Somethin' tells me his hand is gonna be awful tired from signing all those checks....

Anyhow....

I really hope all the people in south Texas were smart and chose to ignore TWC ..... everyone down there should be on their toes and should start thinking about hurricane prep, just in case IMHO....models seem to always have trouble figuring out exactly how weak a weakness will be...

And, lest we forget, there are plenty of examples of WSW movement in the western Caribbean and in the Bay of Campechi.

Can't believe some of the mets would say certain areas are safe. Even if she comes ashore in extreme Northern Mexico, certain areas of Texas would likely feel the worst effects.

And also, they can't know for sure exactly how Emily will move or wobble once she gets over the Yucatan Peninsula.

Agreed, and in addition, the models have clearly been having trouble figuring out this ridge/trough interaction thing. Its clear that up until this point they have been initializing the ridge too strongly.... as far as just how slowly the ridge will build or how much the shortwave thats coming will effect it.....Im not sure anyone knows 100%. I hope the residents of the middle TX coast remember Claudette .... her forecast track was a victim of a "phantom ridge".....

I just hope Em finds the spot that is least populated and heads for it at this point..... :x

I didn't see any mets who said "Texas is safe" and I don't count TWC but I missed the $500 post so I had to look it up.

Unless he hasn't informed us of his credentials, pcolaguy isn't a met but I hope he's rich in case it does strike in south Texas. All that money should go to relief efforts.

No matter what happens, the Texas coast should probably cancell any picnic plans... All we can hope is that the sharp westerly turn that Emily is supposed to take after the Yucatan really does happen.

canegrl04 was claiming earlier that NOAA was irresponsible for saying Texas was in the clear, but she failed to provide any evidence that such a statement was made.

All along as I recall all of us are saying quite the opposite. South Texas has to watch this situation very carfully. It is actually looking more serious as time goes on. Interaction with ULL and Yucatan will be key here.

Ah yeah, I did see that thread but since she never provided proof, I don't see how that counts either. Maybe she misunderstood. :?:

Now I did hear someone on TWC just YESTERDAY mentioning it could hit the Houston area only to hear later that someone heard them say Texas had the all clear.

I'd rather get my weather information from that Radar dog people mentioned than rely on TWC.
