Desert howdy's to Stephanie, Rob, Eric, Stormsfury, Chad, ASLKAHUNA and whoever else drops in. We actually had some showers down here in the desert this morning although the sun is out again. It was nice to see moisture after months of no rain/snow or anything. You guys have heard Dennis talk about the drought, well everything he's related is true unfortunately and our resevoirs are almost dry. According to the scientists this is the driest year in over 1400 years. This past summer we had to drive 100 miles south to Tucson just to see stormclouds. We are in our 'winter rainy season' now but that should end within the next 6 weeks or so - need all the rain/snow now or this spring & summer will be ripe again for forest fires. Some of you guys remember last summer, right...? Anyway, nice board & have a great Saturday guys 8)

PEACE - M2

Hiya M2...sounds pretty serious out that way with all the fires, drought, lack of precip etc. And to think people used to go to AZ for vacation...instead since the fires, they went to FL this year and its been pretty cold down that way! Give it time, my friend....things will change...it cant just dry up forever. I think you need western Cali to have a 9.6 earthquake which will sink the coast and then AZ will have beachfront property!

HG...nice avatar! lol Thats almost close to you as you'll get! I love it here as well...no demanding people and people bickering over idiotic topics and threads...yet! lol Lets all hope JohnnyBoy Admin doesnt come over here...cause he's hurting now for what he's done!

Correction/update: Just read the latest forecast. We are now looking at 2-4" accumulation from this next system. Looks like a snow advisory will probably issued. Man...I am sick of driving on this crap to school.

Rob, the roads in northeastern Pennsylvania must be rather muddy, nevermind wet and snowy. Yuck!

Well...that is a plus.

The thing is that our average snow for the whole season is 14" and you can by my signature is that we have more than doubled that. And as I have mentioned before, February and March are our big snow months.
If I wanted all this snow, I would move to Minnesota :) which happens to be in a snow drought this year. Go figure!

We are Getting Rain in SE AZ

#172 Postby Aslkahuna » Sat Feb 08, 2003 4:12 pm

today along with ice pellets and snow in the Huachucas. However, the current system is not expected to bring a lot of moisture. M2 and AZSnow, though, keep your eyes to the South next week. The Kahuna is stirring up what could be a nice wet system to spread joy just before Valentines Day. Though the models have cut back on the rather extreme amounts they were calling for earlier (due primarily to the change in model resolution), it still looks as though this could be a decently wet system for us. Snow levels will be high-around 7000 ft but snowfall amounts could equal a foot or more if the pattern develops as forecast. Wish us Luck!

If that ain't bad enough, preliminary data are suggesting quite a significant event for possibly the entire Eastern U.S. (Northeast, Mid Atlantic, and now maybe even the Southeast - A possible significant CAD event may set up next weekend)

lol well almost all of our January was so cold that nothing had a chance to melt at all. December was real snowy and cold too, but we had so much snowpack from mid November on that it hasnt gone anywhere. The side roads here are all snowpacked and the regular roads are always ok, but you get back in the woods and the lake here and we just cant see anything! I'll know its getting warmer when our lake is seen again...its under 18" snow still. Cant wait to see the ice on top at least! lol

Yeah Mike....they saw this big trough in the east and the possibility for systems to really get back to a swing pattern like we saw around Christmas before the real cold got here. If thats so, then we could get this major event that is on the horizon.
