This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

From another perspective, seems to me we are quite a diverse group here on the Tropical Discussion Board. Pretty well-rounded representation in many of the groups, but the 40-somethings are leading the pack!!

I'm 56 and became obsessed with hurricanes after experiencing Frederic in 1979.

Thanks Ixolib, you did a very good job with this. Glad I was included, I didn't think you would leave your neighbor accross the bridge out.

I'm 47 and I've had a lifelong fascination with hurricanes since experiencing my first in 1963 in Galveston TX.I think her name was Cindy.

I’m 36 and have been interested in weather since a meteorology class that I took in 2000. I’ve been watching the tropics since last year’s busy season.

I just found you guys in the late spring this year and I’m glad I did. I’m learning a lot about these storms off the pros and other watchers here.

I used to think that an obsessive interest with weather was a phenomenon of senior citizens, but at least based on this forum it seems to be more a mid-life thing. Heck, I (age 44) have been afflicted since Ivan last year.

Update #4...

Of those who've posted in this thread, the eldest member is 72 and the youngest is 13 (going on 14!!). The averages haven't changed much (see bottom of the table) but this update includes those who posted after the last update.

47 tracking since 1965. In my 8 year old wisdom, I was positive that Betsy made the loop to New Orleans because I wished it.

Thanks for doing this work Ixolib, good job! Just one small correction. You transposed my age with tracking years. I'm 38, been tracking for 27.
