Jerry Springer, is he for real?

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Fri May 09, 2003 7:06 am

As some of you might know, Jerry Springer has interests in running for public office in OH again. He used to be our Mayor here in Cincinnati, and a very popular one at that. Most people I talk to, just shake their heads at his renewed interest in politics. So I rejoiced at an Editorial column in today's paper:

http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2003/0 ... DUSTY.html

Springer is now referring to his "talk show (and I used that term loosely)", as his "stupid Television show". Or something like that. Yeah, it's stupid alright!!!!

Does he honestly think he'll be taken seriously now? He will NOT have my vote. Absolutely not.

If I could talk to him, I'd say this: (and he has popped up around town recently, just last weekend at a bar celebrating its 30th Anniversary, Jerry got up on stage and sang a few songs!) "Stop these crazy shows. Just stop. Announce at the end of the last one, in your commentary, that you're taking the high road now and ceasing the type of shows you've been hosting. Then do it! Air a week or two of reruns from your talk show from the early days - informational, quality type shows. Then you might attract material/guests that would fill a "high road, quality" show again." When he started out, I compared him to Donahue. I really did, he was that good! Somehow though when that fork in the road appeared, and Oprah took the "right" fork, Jerry took the other one. Sigh.....

These are all just my opinions. Not trying to force them upon anyone else. But I started this post since I believe I'm not alone in my opinions. I know Eric shares them! And CincinnatiSun too. To think he assumes he has a chance on the political level is just beyond me.

I can't stand his show. I hope that the people that watch it do so for entertainment only. Sadly, there is a segment of the population whose lives are such disasters and will take money to make asses of themselves on national TV. I wonder how much of his show is for real.

Unknown ... however, there's an audience ... just like many other BAD shows on now.

I guess money can make people do crazy things. Just forgive him and move on. If he was a good mayor before than i see no reason in not re-electing him. I guess you just gotta be selfish and do whats best for the city.

I always thought and assumed that most people know that Jerry Springer's show is completely fixed. If anything that his guests are serious... they aren't too common.

The people of Cincinnati must of seen good in him when he was running for mayor. If people like what he stands for then they will vote for him, with regard to the talk show he has had for many years.

I would NEVER vote for Jerry Springer...for anything. He's offended every decent southerner in Georgia and Alabama with those stupid actors with "fake white trash southern accents" show after show

We in the south know not even the worst redneck trash would ever waste good food and beer by throwing it all over their kin

Interesting follow-up article to the one I posted here a link to. Mmmm, this writer thinks Springer has a chance......ha, he won't have my vote!

http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2003/0 ... t3a14.html

Agree with all of you, he's scum in my book. And yes, his "talk show" has to be staged, IMO. Too bizarre not to be.

Chad - I think the reason I get so annoyed with JS, is I used to really like him. He was a very popular Mayor here and then news anchorman. In fact that's where his commentary started, on the evening news. He'd comment on a local current event. That take care of eachother bit, started right here in Cincy.

Yes he's still JS, deep down, just don't care for his "talk show" and the path that took him on. So many Cincinnatian's lost respect for him after that. And long before that we forgave him for a brief indiscretion in his career, back in 74. And embraced him. Now I do believe he's asking too much for us all to embrace him, one more time. I'm done!
