IMO, ditch the "3D look"; in fact, the tapered perspective of the 3D "tube" makes it appear that the zones of TS and hurr-force winds are shrinking as they approach shore.

Nicely done, as usual. I would like to see the wind radii done in a more realistic manner. Could you use the NHC information on wind radii to more realistically portray the winds? I agree on ditching the shading moving into the landfall location, at least in the way it is done now. Like I said though, as usual your graphics are very nice and understandable.

I like the shaded wind radii. It looks to me like it indicates diminishing winds upon landfall, which is expected. Maybe it doesn't give quite as clear an indication that Tropical storm force winds may extend well inland. So, if anything, I think the wind radii shading is under done, not overdone.

The map is so pretty, it is eyecandy (forgetting the content it represents...destruction). Formally, it is quite lovely.

Who can possibly forcast a last hour spread of the windfield? I don't know. Not being sarcastic, just learning. I do think the interaction of storms with land, and the friction effects are not well understood (at least not by me).

This season does remind me of last year, in that I learned something with each and every storm. I guesss that's one of the bigger "hooks". With tropical systems, you never stop learning.

Keep those maps coming, Skeetobite. I hope you make a ton of $$$, too. They are a real service. Good job.

I thought the shading might be representative of the "cone". That's why I liked it.

It looks great, but I agree with some others, the way the cone is portrayed doesn't look very clear.

It's one of those things if you stare at it long enough it looks fine, but hard to decipher right off the bat.

But overall, looks great!

Based on your feedback, we will be modifying the windfields depicted on our maps to reflect the NHC coordinates. This change will be implemented when we launch SkeetobiteWeather.com (soon!).

The image below is the exact shape of the windfield for Emily-2005 at 11am today according to the NHC. Note that the inner ring of this rendering reflects the hurricane force wind radii and will be color coded to reflect the intensity of the hurricane at the time each map is published. The color legend is always available in the footer of our maps.

The map looks very nice, but I don't care for the 3D aspect of the approaching storm. It kind of looks like an asteroid impacting from outer space.
