What happens after Emily
It looks like we might have a lull for a couple of weeks which is fine with me. We could use a tropical wave or 2 here in S FL. It's been very dry.Either it rains too much or were in a drought.

Your right about the rain. We had a wet June here in east central Florida, but not to much rain since then. Most of it has been falling over the inland counties and the west coast. Definately a sign of strong persistent high pressure.
A tropical wave would be nice!

That wave is starting to flare up a little, if nothing else it will be something to keep an eye on while all else becomes quiet.

Withdrawal will probably set in until the next round of storms comes along.Although, with that wave coming off of Africa and the one near Puerto Rico, our break may not be too long.
You are correct PurdueWx80 it may not be long. I think we should catch up on our sleep for the next few nights.

at this point I'm not monitoring Emily that much anymore... the TWD at 8est talked about 3 different waves. one in the E Atlantic, one in the central Atlantic and one in the E Caribbean... the one in the E Atlantic looks like it will encounter some shear within the next 24 to 36 hours however at this point it looks the most organized... there is also another wave coming off the African Coast...
I wonder how many waves have formed that havent developed any further this season...
just like everyone else though I think there will be a lull from now through the first week of August... I'm still convinced though that we could get a tropical storm of hurricane sometime next week.

What happens after Emily? Well there will be a lull.. and if it goes over a week everyone will say the season is slowing down.. the season started busy so is going to end slow.. there will be some that disagree pointing to the unusually high SST's and high over Bermuda stating the real season hasn't even started and debate will begin between both sides.
everyone will get bored of the season debate and track even the most smallest cloud that pops up and someone will declare loudly that it's the next storm that's going to hit NC,FL,Jamaica,Cuba, Mexico, New Orleans, and TX all at the same time!!! Then the other half of the board will argue with them that it's most definitely a fish storm... finally a met will come on and clue everyone in that it's just a mess of cloud that will get obliterated by shear in about 1.75 hours.
Everyone will get depressed till the next most smallest cloud pops up and the cycle started again. Then suddenly 2 or 3 'real' systems will spin up that everyone reverently follows with numerous wobble wars till exhaustion overtakes them and they beg for another lull...

Glen Richards (local Fox weather) Met, said that the "protective bubble" ie the High pressure system that has been over FL will last about another 9 days. He said at that point, the ridge would deterioate and allow for tropical activity to reach the state. Then, all bets are off.

What will I do if we get a little lull around here?
First I am going to sit back on my porch swing and kick my shoes off and drink me a much needed hurricane and listening to some Jimmy Buffet while my girls play out in the water sprinkler. Then I am going to go finish buying my daughter's school supplies and uniforms since they start Aug 10 here. Also I have to figure out what I am going to wear to work since I am starting back too!
But for some reason I don't think we will get much of a lull around the GOM.
