Some flash flood watches and warnings this afternoon as the tenasious now ex 99 moves thru interacting with a trough.

we have rain and wind and thunder too right now but I think the worst of it is over you.

My anemometer clocked 34 mph in a gust with the heavy thunderstorm earlier so the wind surge has arrived with 99.More winds sustained between 15-25 mph are blowing now.

Wow Cycloneye... just realized where you are. I used to live down there on Isla Verde beach in a few of the buildings... ESJ Towers, Reina del Mar, Coral Beach and Marbella over the course of several years. We were living in Reina del Mar when Hurricane Hugo hit, but stayed in (what used to be the) Sands Hotel & Casino, thinking it would be safer. It wasn't, hehe. A few years ago my mom and brother went through Georges. My grandfather passed away shortly thereafter. We all live in Florida now. Whenever I see activity down there on the radar and satellite, it brings back memories...

Wow .. the Sands ...

I lived there for about two months back in '88 or '89 while I was doing software for the duty-free shops in the airport.

Good to know you although you are not here now.Yeah my worst experience was with Georges but I wrote all of my peripecies in another thread (post your hurricane experiences) that is back in the pages.I am sorry about your grandfather.

wow 99L entered the TWO about a week ago... I want it to become a TD or TS just so it can get rid of its agony of being a TW.

it's like an ant that you quish but doesnt die... you want to put it out of its misery...

So that's 99L. I thought that little are of showers east of fl. parallel to lake okeechobee was 99L. Maybe a piece that split off or just something completely unassociated.

Sure looks like a dreary day over PR. Convection does appear to be flaring today but don't see any real circulation. Trop discussion says its drifting west....but are conditions favorable for development...and which direction long term.

Interaction continues between 99 and trough and as long it stays that way 99 will be kept in check.

Actually this activity is the tropical wave that emerged from Africa behind invest 99L. The surface disturbance that was once 99L is now a very weak low level vortmax northeast of the Bahamas and the activity over Puerto Rico is the interaction of the tropical wave (remember the impressive convective complex off Africa just as 99L was attempting to organize on July 12) and an upper level trof. But 99L sheared into two or three segments.... the primary mid level circulation center moved north and northeast while the suface vortmax moved west north of Puerto Rico and is now NE of Bahamas and the southern part of the wave is over eastern Cuba.
