30-frame loop, 100%

At 2AM EST.....

Observe the radial-spoke striations develop in the canopy; these are caused by high-altitude clear-air exhausting wearing groves in the underlying cirrus canopy. It's pretty cool, and not something you see with every hurricane (especially on IR).

-- Every time I have seen it previously, it was in conjunction with either extreme intensification, or an upper range cat-4 or stronger hurricane.

We have to watch for the next few hours as the outter eye takes over. As it is moving closer to land that outter eye will try to tighten up to stay off shore. In which case we may still see a cat4 hurricane out of this.

IMO, there is not a ERC going on. The inner eyewall is still intact.

Youre right, there only seems to be 1 eyewall right now

The inner eye is slowing being deprived of inflow by the consolidating outer ring, and convection is breaking up accordingly:

Looking at the latest Satellite loop, almost looks like she slowed down again. Could just be my tired eyes though!
