Ok recon Reports for 90L are going to be posted in this thread.Let's see what they find.

Based on the 11:30 TWO... almost certainly a TD, good chance of a TS. :eek:

I dont know from which base they will takeoff but the time will be around 12:30 PM EDT.

The Weather Channel were talking about the area in the Bahamas, and that the RECON would depart from Biloxi.

looks like 1230 edt takeoff and 3pm begining of 4 hrs of observations.

Would be a good use for it, that's for sure. I think, if I'm remembering right, they flew out of here for Ivan last year because they had to move the planes from Biloxi. So, see, it's possible :wink:

So, at 1745Z the plane was at 28.6 North, 85.2 West. My estimate of the system's center is 25.2 N 75.3W ...handy-dandy distance calculator says that the distance between those points is about 725 nm, so the plane was about 2.5 hours away from the center at that time...suggesting an arrival time of 2015Z / 4:15 PM EDT.

Re Derek's note above: the Plan of the Day indicated a 'fix time' of 4 PM EDT and 'in the storm time' of 3 PM - 7 PM.

I was just across from PAFB and there where a couple of C-130s doing touch and go training, and was got me wondering again, why dont they just keep a few of the hurricane hunters here?

They do a great job, I just wish they were close to my home.

The Hurricane 130s are flown by reservists at Keesler AFB. There isnt a reserve unit at Patrick.
