Before everyone jumps all over the NHC...

Recon is on its way. Theres no reason for them to issue a special advisory and declare it a cyclone right this second, when they'll know for certain very soon.

Just don't want to see an NHC bash fest that they didn't issue a special advisory to upgrade it based on the TS wind ship report.

Yes. We'll have real recon data in time for 5pm.

Rarely do I snipe at TPC (despite being VP of the anti-Mayfield club) but TPC would have done well to issue this prior to noon as a service to media and emerg personnel in FL. Of course, Dr. Avila is on so we wait.

Were they to go with a TS which is possible but doubtful, it is NOT prudent to go from nothing to name. Bad policy.

Which ever way, I wouldn't expect them to issue an advisory until 5pm. It's not NHC bashing. It's just that their statement didn't sound right to me. Anyway, I'm not the expert, so what I do I know?

2 more hours is nothing. If anything it will give them more time to watch the system and make a better forecast.

This is not a very strong system and it is not an imminent threat to Fl just yet. The Bahamians are very used to dealing with hurricanes, they dont need warnings for a weak tropical storm.
