Is it annoying to have too many polls on this forum?

Is it annoying to have too many polls on this forum?
Does it really annoy you to see polls in every topic?

It's being discussed in the Mod Lounge as we speak.
Polls and light-hearted games such as Yes or No are fun to have, but we don't want the OT forum or any other forum to become littered with them either.
Many times, these type of threads are more of a way for people to rack up their number of posts. The old Games Forum was closed because of that. Needless to say, we're keeping an eye out on what type of posts and how many of them are being made. We want to keep the forums clean and fun for everyone and INFORMATIVE. When they are clogged up with nonsense, then that takes away from the experience for everyone. THAT won't be tolerated.

Stupid question: does your post count go up when you simply answer a poll? Not when you type an answer, but just by filling in one of the little dots in hitting enter. I have actually wondered about that for awhile, but have never seen a poll about polls before 
; and I don't pay enough attention to my post count to notice my count go up or not if I do vote in a poll.

I used to post a lot on DSL Reports, and they would add stars next to your name for the number of posts you had. Actually, the admins initially tried to evaluate the quality of the posts before adding a star, but as the site got more popular, they couldn't keep up. You also got little symbols next to your name if you took part if any of a number of distributed computing projects (SETI, cancer research, etc.).
Anyway, there was this one kid who insisted on making the most pointless remarks -- a lot of "me too" type answers. Someone would ask a good question, and he'd respond with "I don't know." I mean... come on. All of this just to get his post count up -- 30 or 40 a day at times. And he supposedly took part in all three distributed computing projects for which they sponsored forums, even though he had only one computer. (Claimed he was rotating among the three.) So he had six trinkets next to his name, just for being completely useless.

I find pleasure knowing that those who post quanitity over quality, will never ever ever ever ever reach 1 million posts.
To each their own, but I think it illustrates a very important aspect of human nature. I would go on and tell what I think it does illustrate, but I better go post in order to keep up and maintain my value within the community.
