I agree with you wthrman13. I think we will soon see that "feature" go away as the clouds continue to roll around. Not that this thing won't develop, but I hardly think that there is an eye. There quite possibly is a center, and a weak llc, but this thing is not that developed, yet. Also looking at the IR loop, it appears that the cloud tops have warmed for now, not cooled as the other poster indicated. Again, not that they won't cool again and fire up some more convection later, but for now, the heavy convection seems to be ebbing.

It's completely surrounded by banded convection.Wthrman13 wrote:Folks, it's not an eye. It's almost certainly circumstantial cloud structure that happens to be located near the center of circulation.
It may become shrouded by cirrus veiling (which can happen in strong hurricanes), but IMO it's here to stay.otowntiger wrote:I think we will soon see that "feature" go away as the clouds continue to roll around.

I would not be surprised to see the "H" word uttered by the NHC

I guess we shall see. I'm familiar with the eye being shrouded by high cirrus clouds, but that is not a sign of strong or strengthening hurricane. Of course this system may very well be a t.s, but a strong hurricane its not.

Well, if it is an eye, it's an uncommon thing. The problem is folks tend to point out any break in the convection near the center of circulation as a developing or incipient eye, when it really is just that, a break in the convection near the center. An eye implies much more than that.

I don't think we will see the H word by the NHC.. if you look at this
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT ... -loop.html
you will see the Carrib system is interfering with development.

If it does become that way, I promise I will eat all of the pillows in my house.
Conditions just aren't favorable enough....*maybe* at most....a moderate tropical storm at 5 (~50 MPH)
Do you use Crystal or Tobasco with a feather pillow? Or if it's a foam pillow do you use ketchup?
I wouldn't wager anything based no this season. No sir, no way, no how.

It may have strenthened a tad... but the carrib system is still effecting it.. i still don't expect to hear the H word at 11..... I don't know where people get that you couldn't see where visible sat loops make any difference.. it very clear on this that there is an effect.. sat's can't lie
