According to one met on this board

#1 Postby wxcrazytwo » Thu Jul 21, 2005 9:18 pm

this thing is suppose to go out to see, but how. Is the ridge suppose to be non-existent allowing this to go more on a NNE pattern, thus allowing this cold front to sweep it NNE? If the high is still in place, then what is Franklin suppose to do rip right through it? I see two solutions loop-d-loop or a NW movement? JMHO. Comments welcome...

Well, in my opinion (which is coming from someone who hopes to be called a professional met on this board within the next decade) is that Franklin is going to pull a "Jeanne" in terms of it's forecast track.

A loop is looking very possible. The concern with that is it will have a much longer time to get better organized over the open ocean, ala Jeanne.

We'll have to just wait and see...

I am stuck between a loop and a recurve that misses the U.S. at this point. I really want to see what it does this weekend... if it's still moving at a good clip then no loop.

I have to say... it's very tiny and pathetic right now. I think one of those afternoon thunderstorms would eat it alive right now.

It almost looks to me like it has stopped moving this evening, and thunderstorm activity has definately decreased significantly.

It almost looks on the infrared that a small circulation has tried to form just NE of the original center, but that too looks like it may lose the battle. I'll really be surprised if it does survive the night myself.
