Welcome back HG - I know the feeling, I go thru S2K withdrawals too.....I think we all do! And do our famlies understand......no! LOL

What fun things in MI did you do? I hope you got to eat their ice cream a few times - sooooo good.

We vacationed in Traverse City, Mackinaw City (and went over to Mackinac Island one day) and stayed overnight in Frankenmuth (on the way up). All neat areas to visit. The funny thing I remember about that trip is a store clerk's reaction when I said - oh my family and I are excited to be going over to see Mackinac Island, pronouncing the letter c at the end, the next day. She pulled me aside and whispered - we don't pronounce the c.....and for days I had been misprouncing it. Boy, you could tell I wasn't a local!!! LOL I think I then asked if I was also misprouncing the bridge's name too....she nodded yes, with a sigh. :-)

Thanks Miss Mary!

We stayed in Clare at my parents place for the first few days. They live on a lake and I sunbathed alot, went for boat rides and rode the neighbor's jet ski. We saw War of the Worlds and took alot of pictures of the nature up there.

Wednesday evening we drove down and caught Tom Petty and the Black Crows concert at DTE Energy theatre. Thursday and Friday we visited my sister and some of my good friends from high school and saw my best friend Joy, and her sister. We fit in a trip to the Detroit Zoo and some shopping. Then it was already time to come home again. :D

Your trip sounds great HG. A real break! I love traveling north, it is usually cooler than here in Cincinnati. But lately, it's even hot up there.

I forgot to mention we crossed the Mackinac Bridge once for a day trip on up into the UP. We went to the Upper Tahquamenon Falls (stunning to say the least and no crowds!) and drove thru Paradise, Michigan. Suddenly I didn't see any telephone or utility poles. That's when we realized locals didn't have phone or electricity! That was amazing to us but it also was a pleasant surprise. It was so quiet that far north and very picturesque. I still chuckle at that town's name - Paradise!

Welcome Back!

I hear that Michigan is beautiful - especially in the Upper peninsula.

Mackinaw Island is beautiful. I haven't been there since I was about 14 or 15. One day I will take George up there so he can see it. We definately need to take a 2 week trip some time so we can do more sightseeing farther up North.

The weather was so nice up there too. It was pretty hot during the days but the nights were cool and not so humid as here. Boy it sure hit me when we got off the plane and went outside to have a smoke.

Thanks Stephanie and Mary.. It's soooo good to be back here. :D
