Yeh i was reminded of that religion as I was listening to the radio the other day, but the DJ failed to remember the name of the religion as well. It reminded me of this girl in HS who always wore kakhi or denim skirts and had really long hair tied in a pony tail. Is there a particular reason for this? Can they not show their legs or get haircuts?

I dated a Pentecostal for about two years. The long skirts are a sign of modesty (women can't show a lot of leg or chest). Also, there's an interpretation of scripture pertaining to a woman not wearing clothes of a man (meaning, for most, pants). As for the hair, the way it was explained it to me by a Mennonite nurse I worked with in the ER, cutting the hair is a sign of vanity. They don't desire to draw attention to themselves (especially lustful attention). However, the Mennonites are more progressive than the Amish and the women can/do wear pants.

The younger Pentecostal ladies around here wear long denim
skirts and wear their hair long, but, usually have it tied up in
a "bun", if they're older, or, in a pony tail, if younger, usually
with a big old gawky bow in it...

Around here, Pentcostal girls and women rarely travel in less than 6+ groups, or with their husband or father.

Their hair is long to extreme, and the skirts are floor-length....usually very plain or black, some younger ones in denim; rarely do they wear short sleeve blouses, even in the hottest weather.

Other than a veil, they remind me of those poor Afghani women under the Taliban.
