Gulf Water Temperatures Rising

#1 Postby frederic79 » Mon Jul 25, 2005 11:26 am

On June 30, 2005, just before Cindy and Dennis, the average water temperature for 12 Gulf buoys was 84.8 degrees F. Today, July 25, less than one month later, the average water temperature is now 87.0 degree F. With heat indexes in the 110+ range and little cloud cover across the GOM, some areas may get into the low 90's by mid-August. Already the temperature in the MS Sound has been around 90 degrees for several days.

My husband was commenting how much the Gulf waters have warmed up. He fishes about 100 miles off shore from Fort Morgan and Orange Beach and he said that the waters are very warm.

despite frequent thunderstorms each day, our water temp is at 93 degrees right now and expected to rise a little this week as the thunderstorm frequency is expected to diminish over the next few days.

The way this season has gone, you better not turn your back on it.

Jeez... 90 degree water temperature is too warm to casually swim in... I know that much. Lack of oxygen in the air... *Shudder*

I remember when I lived in Dallas and we had a bad heat wave people were buying blocks of ice to put in their swimming pools. My family went to the public pool to cool off and it was like jumping into a warm bathtub. Only deeper. Water was warmer than body temp, so I guess it was 99-100F while the outside air temps were 105-108.....

That's good. My mom had a tropical depression in hers. I called the Dyn-O-Mat guys over and fortunately, it dissipated.
