I remember sitting with husband and kids in the middle of the house and the winds howling all night long. Lost power (stayed out for 10 days) and the only communication was a local radio station that the police were using and you could hear all the people they were trying to get out of trapped houses with trees on them. Finally when daylight came we went outside and couldn't believe our eyes. So much destruction, so many trees and power lines down.

Thanks Storm2k for this great site.

that must of gotten the adrenaline pumping

36...37 Nov 2nd. I have been tracking storms since TS Delia 1973. I was very young became interested in the tropical storms and hurricanes after experiencing my first TS.....wow I feel old...thats 32 years! As far weather in general I have been interested in weather every since my first memories as a child.

Thanks God the Internet brought all us weather fanatics together.......one great family of friends all over the US and WORLD.

I'm 43 and have been addicted since the Blizzard of 93 here in the
southeast. I would love to see a chart with all of our birth months on it
to see if a particular birth month may have contributed to our obsession
with the weather. Mine's August 25.

What does the time tracking portion of the chart mean?

If it means the years that we've tracked storms, then you've filled in the wrong info for me, but probably because I didn't specify (sorry).

If it's been since I was interested in weather, 10 years.
If it's been since I watched TWC, 3 years.
If it's been since I looked at NWS radar images, satellite images, or seriously watching the weather, 2 years.

My b-day is next month, in August.

28 years old here. I got into Hurricanes when i was 11 years old watching Hurricane Gilbert in the News. The size and beauty of it just blew me away. Plus being a native Floridian we were always keeping an eye on the tropics when i was a kid

48 and have been tracking storms since...I can't remember; I guess since TWC came to be? The earliest hurricane I remember was Camille, but more for the flooding than the actual hurricane.

53 and will turn 54 on the eve of the hurricane season peak (Sept. 9). I have been tracking hurricanes since Donna in 60. I was living in Newport News VA at the time and I watched trees blown down, deafening winds, heavy rains, eating off my dad's new gas Colemans stove because of power loss, etc. In short I loved it and became fascinated with hurricanes (of course I was 9). The next year my dad bought me an old superheterodyne (old tube type) radio and a tracking map and I have been tracking ever since (I guess that makes 43 years of tracking). I moved from Hampton Roads to the Outer Banks in 1974 and needless to say I jumped from the frying pan into the fire. As a business owner (28 yrs) I know just how much damage, both physical and monetary, a hurricane can cause. It is a factor that you can not plan for and can set you back for years. In short, in no way do I want to experience a hurricane again. But the 9 year old in me wishes there was some way I could without all the damage and destruction.

Goodness we have some young people on here...I guess that explains the grammar and spelling errors

I'm 36. I've been studying and tracking hurricanes since Claudette in 1979...so 26+years. I was in Alvin staying with my aunt and uncle when she stalled and dumped 40"+ of rain in 24 hours. It was enough to get anyone hooked. The next year, Allen rolled through and that sealed the deal.

I am 36 and never gave tracking hurricanes a thought until we moved down here 2 summers ago. So, this is my 3rd hurricane season. Now I am hooked.

I'm 16 and started totally getting into tracking after Floyd brushed my town (I was 10 at the time) and I remember it amazing me how a naturally accuring thing could cause so much commotion and then destruction. Rode my bike around in the fallen limbs and such. So to conclude I'm 16 and been tracking for 6 years.
