Again, awesome thread guys!! It has been hot in the Central Plains, but in reality, this is just typical Kansas summer weather-our average high is 91 here in Lawrence, so while the 100's are hot and miserable, it is not uncommon at all. To me, this does not even compare to 1995 or 2003. In those years we had 8-10 day stretches of 100 degree days with no rain-so far, this will be our first stretch of 100 degree days in 2 years-can't really complain. The pattern is similar, but for this area not nearly as hot nor as dry as 1995 or 2003 for that matter. Keep the thread going-it is awesome!!

Yeah.... Not much to say about the weather here lately. Sunny, clear, calm. More the same over next few days. -- Andy | PS: My high was 77 with a low of 52.

70s and sun is perfect weather for the summer. Unfortunately the only 70s that will be appearing here will be dew points. :(

Back from paradise...

Hawaii was awesome...88F and mostly sunny everyday. The UV index is amazing down there...EXTREME everday. The sun feels ALOT different.

Looks like the weather finally turned up here. Today looks to be the warmest day of the summer...aside from Memorial Day weekend...with temperatures around 90F. It's already 74F at 11:30am.

And the weather continues, but not as warm...temperatures 75-80F with mostly sunny conditions.

For the Oregon side of things, it was HOT yesterday. 98 in Salem. The heat low is on its way out today, though. We should be in the 80s today and then upper 70s low 80s all weekend.

The next two weeks look about the same. Maybe a couple of upper 80s days, but not much more than that. Which brings us to mid to late August. That's when I really start noticing a weather change generally. Of course, there could still be a few scorchers out there---but you can really tell the days are shorter, so it doesn't stay hot for as long.

I've babbled long enough. Hope all is well with you guys.

What I liked was that even though it was 98 in Salem (100 in Corvallis) yesterday, it was only 57 in Newport :D

weathergirl,

August can have some of the warmest days of the year...the sunset is still 8-830pm. Not much difference from the first week of July through the first week of September. Although the days get shorter, the same theme of "summer" is consistent...at least most of the time.

Today looks like another awesome day...temperatures into the 80s. Actually, it's warmer at this time today than yesterday...currently 72F at 11am. I say 81F today.

I think most of the people around the nation are probably envious of us about now, we have the best weather probably in North America. Warm, sunny (most days), but not HOT, no hurricanes or tornadoes to worry about, just nice warm days.

Yes, even early September can get hot (by our standards). I remember the Goodwill Games opened up in Seattle sometime around 1986. I know it was in September, and temps in Seattle were about 90. Statistically I suppose late July/early August are the warmest days, but we have a ways to go before we can count out hot weather.

I don't post here that often, I am mainly interested in the winter weather, hoping we have a different winter this year then last year. I still check out the weather forums though.

Anyone seen Brennan here or at any other forums?

WeatherGirl, any idea when Dr. Taylor will post his fall/winter forecast? I am interested to see if he or anyone else thinks that sunspots make a difference, I understand we are approaching a minimum and sunspot activity has been very low lately, though that might change in a few days.

Brennan let his emotions get the best of him here, and was banned from the site. Don't know if he still visits oldfarmers site or not.

Coastal areas of the Pacific Northwest would probably be my favorite paradise spot in the lower 48 (of course otherwise I would choose Alaska). I hate the heat and I love the cold (so obviously winter in the coastal Northwest would be horrible for me), but during the summer nice sunny pleasant days are terrific. You can walk around and play sports without sweating etc. The best summer weather would be low to mid 70s for highs with 50s by night, which you often recieve there.

That's going to be our weather on Friday! We hit 76 for a high today in Stanwood. Currently at 6:45 its 67 degrees with the marine air cooling us down after a couple of warm days in the 80's.

That seems beautiful. The kind of weather you could comfortably play sports or other games outside and just hang out with friends. Perfect weather to play hangman at night.

Yeah I sure think its the perfect temp also, and like Anthony says the humidity is never bad around here either. I don't know if I could ever live in any other place. I melt if the temp gets over 85

I think it's officially safe to say the weather pattern has turned for summer. I was having doubts...I expected ALL of July to be down the drain but things really shifted at the middle of the month.

Another beautiful day...high temperature of 83F with a light, northerly wind...not one cloud in the sky. Tomorrow looks similar...a few more high clouds as an approaching cold fronts shifts south...a few degrees cooler.

And next weekend looks like a possible heatwave. A thermal trough? Probably not...but moderate offshore flow and a solid ridge of high pressure right off our coast. I would say many places will crack the 90-degree mark by Thursday.

Nice sunny day here also and not really any clouds to be seen except a few high clouds off to my west early this evening. My high was 84 with a low of 55. -- Andy

We officially pulled out the AC today...it's now cooling our upstairs, bonus room. Although the official high was only 82F, it felt alot warmer than yesterday...and this evening our downstairs is unbearable. As is typical of most Seattle folks, I'm a wimp when it comes to heat.

This looks like an awesome week...aside from tomorrow...with above normal temperatures and plenty of sunshine. It could get downright hot by Thursday and Friday...temperatures near 90F. Statistically speaking, the last week of July/first week of August is the driest/warmest time of year in the PNW. Looks like this year will live up to the hype.

It's been quiet on this board...only a few posts per week. Let's get things more lively. I know the weather is boring, but at least post your current temperature or something along those lines.
