92L Invest up

I have not been as active on these boards in the last couple of days. So, I drop by and there is already another invest???
It does not look impressive to me. And at this time it looks to be at a such a low latitude that it will probably crash into South America. I wonder what is up with all these low latitude storms?

There's quite a few ppl on this board, although they may not admitt it publicly who get off on the "Big Storm" coming to them
in fact, somenoe did a Poll not long ago and the question was...what is the strongest Cane you'd ride out..and Cat 4 was the Number one answer i believe
So "Big Storms" rock!!!!!!
In 1995, yes there were alot of storms, but hardly any of them made landfall, so it was also boring in a sense
*hopefully* my wish will come true and a cane will come up this way
Of course in Maine, even a small Cane would be equivalent to a major Cane in the Hurricane Belt because we never get them up here
the last officially declared Tropical Storm Advisory for a System up here was for Floyd in sept of 1999...before that it was Bob in 91 and Gloria in 85, so they come around here every 6 7 8 years or so....so we're entering that period where we're gonna be due for one

If Duffy really wants to see a hurricane that bad, then he needs to either move or travel to where one is going to hit. I suggest moving either to the Gulf Coast or the Outer Banks. Because tropical systems rarely ever hit in Maine.

Come back here in 15-20 years when you have a family, home, mortgage, possibly a business to be concerned about and then tell us how exciting it is to see a powerful storm barreling at you. It's easy to say "bring it on" when it is not going to effect you personally and you have not yet developed a compassion for the rest of the human race outside of your immediate circle.

I think it is wonderful that there are so many young people showing such an interest in the tropical weather and some are handling it with the awe and dignity it deserves-Mike and Kevin to name two. This is not a contest. This is about live and death and preparing for what nature may bring us. This board is a place to learn (not cheerlead) about weather related phenomena. My advise (unasked for but given just the same) post less and read more. You will become a much better informed weather enthusiast.

What you are saying is all too true.
I started following Hurricanes when I was 6 years old and they were fun!
Cleo, Betsy were cool to go through and I had little care in the world.

Now, with Francis and Jeanne, damage to the home (a little bit only; we were very lucky), putting up shutters for 6 hours at a time, a scary night of things flying around outside, closing of business for a few days and the aftermath of horrible business for weeks afterwards..... they are just not "fun" anymore.

And we have been LUCKY here in Central Palm Beach county.
The folks 50 miles up the road that got direct hits twice in 3 weeks did not fare so well. And our fellow Floridians up in the Panhandle, have had even worse luck. There are way too many blue tarps still flapping in the wind.

I read those that wish for Cat 3, 4 and 5's and know that they have no clue.

That's the closest thing they get to a Hurricane and it pales in comparison.

Last year my friends brother was shot and killed in a robbery attempt in Miami, while Hurricane Charley was plowing through Punta Gorda. Had this Hurricane had hit Miami instead, he would be ALIVE today because he would not have been shopping in that area since it would have been closed for the Hurricane. After that incident, the "bring it on" people don't bother me, as I realize there are so many other things to worry about than that.

Anyway back to the thread, looks like there is a lot of dry air with this invest and it could be another 99, well atleast for the short term.
