not sure yet i'm not good at this type of poll

anyways

Q: Is there a site out there that shows the wind speeds for the waves because the wave could look like crap but be a TD because it's winds are above 35 mph right

but i've always wondered this. or does it come back in the reports from those planes??? because i don't bother reading those. perhaps I should start reading them

It needs a surface circulation first...

so is that why some storms start out as imidiate TS because the winds where TS strength when the surfac circulation started?

For a TD to be declared, it must have a closed surface circulation and convection. There is no wind criteria.

Uh... I think it needs winds of 30 mph sustained. But it must have a closed circulation.

I say 5pm tomorrow if the organization trend continues.

Just looked pole up in the dictionary and found nine definitions. So which pole are you not good at...magnetic pole, north and south pole...lol j/k

Ok back on topic. I highly doubt that NHC will initiate advisories (no matter what day) at 5:00 AM or 8:00 AM EDT. Looking at this year, all systems were upgraded to TD at either 5:00 PM or 8:00 PM. And all the major hurricanes this year have been upgraded at 8:00. And since it's too early tonight and I think this will be a major hurricane, I'll say tomorrow night at 8:00 PM EDT.

I'm not positive here, but the storms that are immediately declared TS, are probably Invest areas that recon flew into and found a closed LLC and TS winds.

Theres no recon when the storms are coming off Africa...so they just go off satellite estimates. So its unlikely to get a invest right to TS out there.

jeanne in 1998 went right to a TS. I believe the TD formed either over Africa or just offshore and NHC waited to mkae hte upgrade, by which time, it was a TS. NHC did the same for Isabel as well

Its irrelevant, theres no official wind criteria. And I'm pretty sure theres been 25MPH TDs...

I believe TD 6 in 1995 was classified as a TD after recon found a closed circ with winds of 20KT

According to some definitions of a TD, it needs to have winds of at least 20 knots, but the rest including NHC say 33 knots or less so I think wind speed is irrelevant.
