Thanks for the url. Michael's are few and far between in my part of SoFla (nearest one is ~40 min. away), but a real sale is always worth a drive!

Also, a local chain called "Rag Shop" has been running special sales the past few weeks [such as DMC floss 8/$1], including a 40% off an entire order (sale items included). I've started to stock up on cross-stitch stuff, anticipating getting back into that craft again ASAP and have decided to eventually pick up crocheting again or maybe learn how to knit. Years ago I enjoyed crafting, but then my life became too busy. I'm seriously thinking of cutting back on teaching this October, and needleworking while sitting by my pool sounds quite relaxing!

Do you knit, crochet, or both?

When I get the time I crochet and had taken a gander at what I have and it's not a lot and with working 2 full-time jobs I haven't had much time, but since I'm not going in on the day job this week, and there's a Michael's right up the road I figure I'd stock-up now so when I do keep some time, I'll have some yarn I can use:)

I thnk you can buy the stuff on line too, I can't, no credit card, but see if you can if you want.

Oh I am in so much trouble!!! I didn't need to see this add LOL. Think I'm going for a ride tomorrow LOL.

I am currently working on a plastic bag project. That's right you uses plastic bags instead of yarn. I thought it was wierd too at first but it doesn't look like plastic bag at all! People make beach bags, rugs for the patio/laundry room and stuff such as that and it looks like some kind of woven wicker. I'm making an angel plastic bag holder! Just couldn't resist *grins* will share a pic if I remember when I'm done with it. Everyone who has seen me working on it says they can't believe it's plastic bags either.

OH are you kidding!!! where did you get the patterns?? *begs pretty* I have the hardest time finding stuff sometimes!
I've been eyeing cro-tat. It's one of the few needle-arts I haven't tried. Lucky you to have the love and money loom as they are unavailable anymore.

Jen!!! You're too funny....

I could get the hang of some of these crafts....IF I knew what this aisle was for or that one, with instruction sheets at the end of each aisle - CRAFTS 101 FLYERS!.....we were looking for puff paints the other day. The bottle they come in looks the same as the smaller paint bottles in a different aisle, except there's a pointed tip instead of flip cap.

All men are running from the room now....is paint what you want? Heck head to Sears or Home Depot!!! LOL

Anyways, I have my 15 year old daughter with me (who has ADD) but wants to start painting and decorating simple wooden xmas ornaments. She said - no puff paint, let's go home, come on.....

Well, I'm the type that asks questions.

Sure enough puff paint was with fabric paints, a completely different section, not even a nearby row. Now tell me, why they couldn't they put fabric/puff paints in the same aisle with craft paints? They could just move clay products to a completely different aisle......

The way Michael's is laid out is very confusing!!! And very little signage - I need signs, puffed paints are used for "such and such", gloss paints are used for "such and such", you get the picture.

Just had to vent......hey Jen, I'm almost stressing out there too!!! LOL I will NOT tell my daughter about this sale.....she has enough supplies to last a while.

Jen - well, I just naturally group like items. It's not difficult to understand!!!

We have THE largest Kroger's in my community. Kroger grocery stores are based in Cincinnati. So this was a test. This store is huge, with 2 story ceilings, skylights, a Starbucks, Jewelry, Photoshop right in the middle of the store. Oh yeah, a furniture section (just high priced veneered wood items, not high end pieces). In other words - way too much. I just want to breeze thru there getting my essentials....not a new necklace. Grrrrr.....

But what this fancy grocery store did was separate paper products. TT and Paper Towels are 4 aisles away from eachother. Paper napkins and plates are with dishsoap and dish detergents. Meanwhile laundry detergents are another aisle over......I routinely see someone with their cart, doing circles......asking now I found the TT, where are paper towels.....and I have to go down that road - "sigh, ~someone~ decided to separate paper at our brand new high end ultra fancy grocery store"....I say.

I try to shop elsewhere but his is the Kroger Pharmacy we get our prescriptions at. So unless I switch, I do have a legit reason to walk in that store. Oh I've voiced my frustrations many times. And it really just comes down one thing:

Women should organize and decide on the layout of a grocery store. NOT MEN!

It would be like me organizing tools at Sears! LOL

Me too! Recently finished painting a seaside mural on my daughter's bedroom wall. We then added a fake awning I made from some wide striped material and put up 2 x 4's and 2 x 2's to look like a porch. Porch had a 6 in wide railing so she can display plants, seashells, etc.

Also painted the bottom of my dinning room windows in a tropical theme. They have a spray paint out now that makes windows look like they have been frosted. You can't seen through the frosting. I cut various leaves, cattails and egrets from contact paper, arranged them on the windows and sprayed away. Now I can walk through my dinning room half dressed and all anybody can really see is my head. Unless, of course, they are close enough to peer in a clear spot.

I love doing crafts, but I'm more of a starter and not a finisher. I have a beautiful wolf print needlepoint that's about 1/4 the way done and I haven't touched it in a year. It has to be something that will not take longer than a few days to complete.

Nevermind the fact that my cats LOVE the yarn!

Anyway, we have a Rag Shop and a Michael's here as well and they are neat stores. Actually, Walmart is has a decent craft supply section.
