July Cold Front

#1 Postby PTrackerLA » Wed Jul 27, 2005 11:26 am

A rare july cold front will be moving through our area tomorrow and into Friday. While overnight lows will dip into the 60s this weekend it will be nothing like the record cold front of last August that drove Charley into the west coast of Florida and sent our temps to an all time August record low of 58 degrees!

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA
1030 AM CDT WED JUL 27 2005

...COLD FRONT IN JULY?...

AN UNSEASONABLY STRONG COLD FRONT THIS MORNING STRETCHES FROM THE
NEW ENGLAND STATES DOWN INTO WEST TEXAS. THIS RARE JULY COLD FRONT
IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE LAKES REGION OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS ON
THURSDAY MORNING...AND PUSH INTO THE COASTAL WATERS FRIDAY MORNING.

NOTICEABLY PLEASANT COOLER AND DRIER AIR WILL BE FELT DURING THE
OVERNIGHT HOURS ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...WITH MORNING LOWS IN THE
UPPER 60S TO AROUND 70 AND DAYTIME HIGHS AROUND 90. THIS WILL BE A
BREAK FROM THE MID 90S.

IN ADDITION TO THE COOLER TEMPERATURES...NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST TO ACCOMPANY THIS COLD FRONT. ALTHOUGH
DROUGHT CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN ONGOING ACROSS THE REGION OVER THE PAST
SEVERAL MONTHS...RECENT RAINS HAVE BENEFITTED MOST LOCATIONS.
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL FURTHER IMPROVE THESE
RAINFALL DEFICITS.

ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT UNHEARD OF FOR COLD FRONTS TO MOVE THIS FAR SOUTH
IN THE SUMMER MONTHS...FRONTS GENERALLY REMAIN WELL TO THE NORTH
ACROSS THE CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE UNITED STATES.

THE LAST TRUE COLD FRONT TO MOVE THROUGH THE REGION AND INTO THE
COASTAL WATERS HAPPENED NEARLY TWO MONTHS AGO BEFORE SUMMER REALLY
STARTED.

COLD FRONTS IN THE SUMMER MONTHS GIVE A BRIEF BUT WELCOME BREAK FROM
THE USUAL HOT TROPICAL ENVIRONMENT THAT DOMINATES THE WEATHER ACROSS
SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND SOUTHERN LOUISIANA. ENJOY IT!

It passed thru DFW early this morning. Temp right now is 75, with a high around 80. Oh yeah, and it's been raining too. Woohoo!

Cold front in July. It's supposed to get here today. Mostly it will cause more rain to fall and lower the high temps from the mid to upper 90's to the low to mid 90's. For 2-3 days.

I can't wait. ;)

Were hoping here in Florida that the cold front gets at least to the panhandle to cause some instability in the atmosphere. We had a very wet June here in East Central Florida and now July has been the exact opposite. Very hot here as well, especially without any storms.

Well the front might have come through, but it's still hot and dry. We barely got a drop of rain from this system which we need badly :x . I'm ready for winter :D .
